Lots 💕 fun on the river today. Sunny, cloud covered and rain didn't stop a group of canoes/kayaks from floating down the Chickasawhay River from DeSoto to Shubuta. A meal was prepared for those attending and prizes and gifts were handed out.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE “SOUPER BOWL FRIDAY”
February 9, 2024

Begin the weekend celebration early on Friday, February 9th, at the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Souper Bowl Friday”. Serving a variety of soups—vegetable soup, gumbo and chili. Chamber members invite friends and neighbors to dine with them from 10:30 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. at the Quitman Depot on Railroad Avenue in Quitman. This year marks the 21st year for the event designed to combine good food and fellowship while providing funding for the Chamber’s operating expenses.

Along with the generous servings of soup, gumbo or chili, diners can enjoy a sandwich along with a dessert and beverage. Tickets are available from Chamber of Commerce members, at the Chamber office or at the door for a donation of $7.00. The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting & Banquet will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Quitman.

The Chamber will welcome a special guest speaker, and is pleased to have back again this year Brooks Wood to entertain us. Brooks is a very talented Clarke County young man.

The meal for the evening will be prepared by Marcus Hester. In addition, during the banquet, we will recognize and applaud Clarke County’s Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year. Please come out and show your support; you will not want to miss this very special evening.

Tickets for this event are available at the Chamber Office. The Chamber office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $28.00 for open seating and $30.00 for reserved seating. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, January 17, 2024. We must give an attendance count to the caterer at that time. We have limited seating so plan to get your tickets early.

The Clarke County Christmas Parade will be held Monday night, December 4th, at 6:00 p.m. Line-up will begin at 5:00 p.m. Floats must be in line by 5:20 p.m. in order to be judged for prizes.

Location/Parade Route: Lineup will take place on Harris Avenue (the street in front of Dart Container). The parade will proceed East onto Donald Street (Hwy. 512), turning north onto Archusa Avenue (Hwy. 145), and end, turning left onto Charleston Street (street next to fire department).

The theme for this year’s parade is “Celebration of Christmas”. **All entries must have some form of Christmas decorations (including antique, classic, muscle cars & trucks, etc.)**
