💔 The unfortunate reality for Dottie…
Sometimes rescue means admitting when a situation isn’t working, even when it breaks our hearts. 😢
Dottie needs a home without other dogs. She has experienced a lot of trauma in her past, and we believe that has affected her ability to trust people.
The hardest part for us is that she still won’t come up to us for love. 💔 We want so badly to show her that she is safe, that she is loved, and that people can be good to her. But she’s scared, and we have to respect her boundaries.
Dottie needs someone special. ❤️
We truly feel that a breed-specialized rescue or an experienced adopter who understands fearful and traumatized dogs may be her best chance. She needs someone willing to be patient, give her time, and work at her pace.
And honestly… that person may be a needle in a haystack.
But Dottie deserves that needle. 🥺❤️
She also cannot stay here forever. Living in a spare room, separated from the rest of the household, is taking a mental toll on her. We have unfortunately reached the point where we are giving her medication to help her sleep and cope.
This isn't the life we want for her.
We don't want to give up on Dottie. We want to find the person who will look at her trauma and see the dog underneath it all. The person who will say, “I can give her the time she needs.”
If you are that person—or if you know a rescue, trainer, or experienced adopter who may be able to help—please reach out.
Dottie needs a chance to finally feel safe. 🐾💔
