The District The District is a nonprofit organization devoted to growth, preservation, & promoting downtown Quincy.

The District began more than 30 years ago when a group of concerned business owners noticed current trends pulling shoppers from the Central Business District. In an effort to alter that trend, local business owners formed Uptown Quincy, Inc. Later the organization joined the Main Street Program and became known as the Historic Quincy Business District, to promote the area as a shopping and business district. Today, The District is the premier destination for dining, entertainment and shopping. With the backdrop of our historic architecture, The District merges the past with a touch of modern to bring customers all the modern conveniences they would want. The District is volunteer-driven and led by our Board of Directors. The District strives to develop programs that provide assistance to existing businesses and attracts both new businesses and customers. We are committed to economic development, promotion and preservation of The District. Our boundaries extend from Front Street to Twelfth Street and State Street to Broadway Street. Working through community partnerships, we seek to revitalize this area on a daily basis.

The tradition of lighting Washington Park dates all the way back to the 1930s — and every year, we work to keep that tradition shining.

But it takes more than lights to create a winter wonderland. It takes people who believe that traditions matter.

As we finish wrapping up 2026 - we pause to say thank you and we look back with gratitude...

🎶 Another summer of Blues in The District presented by Blessing Health System is in the books. 🎶

For nearly three decades, Blues In The District has been more than a concert series. It’s summer evenings in Washington Park. It’s dancing with friends, meeting up with family, grabbing dinner from a favorite vendor, and making memories together in the Heart of Quincy.

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to everyone who helped make these evenings possible — our generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers, food and beverage vendors, community partners, the incredible musicians who filled the park with music, and everyone who came out to enjoy it all.
