Cancer Crush was inspired by Ted Tappe who fought an eight-year battle with prostate cancer. Ted’s son, Luke, wanted to help other oncology patients in our community by easing the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis, so no patient had to face the difficult decision of choosing between their treatment and paying their bills. In 2020, Cancer Crush was transitioned to the Quincy Medical Group (QMG
) Foundation to continue the mission of supporting local patients and to further grow the event. In 2021, QMG Foundation announced that the Buzz Off Cancer fundraiser would be held during its Cancer Crush event as both seek to bring our community together to help patients facing the hardships that come along with a cancer diagnosis. By bringing the two events together, we can have an even larger impact on our community’s oncology patients. Since 2014, Cancer Crush has raised funds for local patients in their fight against cancer. In that time, the event has raised over $590,000 to help patients with the expenses associated with cancer treatment and other needs including transportation, housing, and much more. Join us as our community comes together to CRUSH CANCER!
