Granite City Church - Quincy

Granite City Church - Quincy We are a community that WANTS God, WALKS in the way of Jesus, and WAITS on the Holy Spirit.

Our mission is to create a community that earnestly wants God, wholeheartedly walks in the way of Jesus, and humbly waits on the Holy Spirt for the renewal of all things. Our hope is that we might have the humility to join with what God is already doing to bring about renewal in our families, our workplaces, our schools, our neighborhoods, our cities and beyond. What does it look like to make room for God?

It looks like building an altar.

Not necessarily a physical altar, but building spaces in our lives where seeking the Lord takes priority.

Out of those spaces grow prayer, hunger for God, expectation, and revival.

Seek the Lord. ⬇️

Sometimes we make following God more complicated than it needs to be.

We wait for the perfect moment, the perfect plan, or the perfect understanding.

But we always have this simple invitation: seek Him. Call on Him. Turn toward Him.

God’s ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts are beyond what we can comprehend. We may not understand what He is doing -- or what He wants to do next -- but we can trust in Him.

Revival begins with something as simple as this: people who are hungry enough to seek Him.

Lord, give us that hunger. 🔥

The resurrection was not the end of Jesus' story.

It changed what was possible.

The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is still bringing dead things back to life.

That means:

Addictions can break.
Marriages can heal.
Broken relationships can be restored.
A dying church can wake.

We call it revival. And here's the good news: revival can start in you.

If this message stirred something in you, come ready for more because we're excited to welcome Greg Johnson of back to Granite City Church this Sunday, August 16th, to hear more about revival.

The resurrection changed what’s possible. So what are you asking God for? 🔥

Some of us can't imagine being free. ⬇️

Sometimes brokenness becomes so familiar that we stop imagining anything different.

We give in to the new normal.
We learn to live with it.

And eventually, we may even prefer the familiar -- even when the familiar is hurting us.

On Sunday, guest preacher Greg Johnson of Revive New England taught from John's Gospel, where Jesus encounters a paralyzed man who had been living beside a pool for 38 years. When Jesus asks, “Do you want to be made well?” the man doesn't answer yes or no. He explains why he can't change.

Sometimes, like the man by the pool, we get so used to our circumstances that we can't even imagine freedom anymore.

Maybe it's an addiction.
Maybe it's bitterness.
Maybe it's a pattern you've lived with for years.

What would it look like to believe that something different is possible?

As Greg reminds us, Jesus is still asking the question:

Do you want to be made well?

You don’t pray alone here. 🙏

We bring each other to God.
We carry each other in prayer.
We remind each other that no one has to walk alone.

This is what church community looks like.

If you’re nodding your head right now,
you’re in the right place. 🤍

You are welcome here.

Have you ever truly said yes to God?

If you've never fully entrusted your life to the God who can give you new life that lasts forever... perhaps right now is the time.

Ask God to forgive you. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit.

And He will -- because 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

What's the biggest obstacle to sharing your faith?

We know the Gospel is good news. We believe Jesus offers new life and a restored relationship with God to anyone who wants to receive it.

And yet, we hesitate to talk about it with the people in our lives who don't know Him.

Maybe we're afraid of being judged. Maybe we don't want to make someone uncomfortable. Maybe we're worried we'll say the wrong thing. Or maybe we're simply not sure how to talk about our faith in a way that feels loving rather than confrontational.

Our guest preacher Pastor Dave Swaim challenged us on Sunday to consider this: what if loving others means being willing to share the very best news we have?

We can be devoted to Jesus without discriminating against anyone else. We can treat people of every faith -- and people of no faith -- with the love, dignity, and compassion Jesus calls us to show.

And we can still refuse to keep to ourselves the good news of what Jesus did on the cross, and why.

Watch the full sermon to explore the difficult questions surrounding Jesus as the only way to salvation -- and why the Gospel really is good news for all. Find the link in the comments.

This week Pastor Stephen is cycling from New York to Montreal to raise money for Zimele USA. Granite City Church has been a long-time supporter of Zimele Wethu Foundation and the transformative work they do in South Africa for women and youth in rural communities. Yesterday the team raised $9000! There is a matching $5000 gift if they can reach or surpass that goal in donations today. If you'd like to help Pastor Stephen and his team reach their fundraising goal, you can give here: https://zimeleusa.kindful.com/?campaign=1413039
