NRCS Local Work Group Meeting
Conservation & Fire Preparedness Resources for Landowners

Local landowners and land managers are invited to learn about financial assistance and conservation programs available through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

NRCS programs can provide technical and financial assistance to eligible landowners and agricultural producers for projects addressing natural resource concerns on working lands, including rangeland and non-industrial private forest land.

PUBLIC NOTICE

East Quincy Wildfire Resilience Project

Starting July 15, 2026, J&C Enterprises will begin fuels reduction operations on 90.9 acres adjacent to the community of East Quincy and La Porte Rd.

If recreating in the area, please use situational awareness at all times!

- Keep dogs on a leash
- Stay 500 feet back from all equipment and falling trees
- You may see a drone over the area. In addition to a fire patrolman, J&C Enterprises uses this as an added fire prevention measure to monitor ground that was operated on earlier in the day.

UC ANR is offering a Forest Stewardship Workshop beginning August 4. This hybrid program is open to forest landowners across California and covers topics like forest health, wildfire resilience, wildlife habitat, and long-term stewardship.

Registration includes:
โ€ข Nine weekly Zoom workshops
โ€ข One optional in-person field day
โ€ข One free site visit with a California Registered Professional Forester upon completion (an approximately $800 value)

Scholarships are available upon request.

Whether you own a few wooded acres or a larger forest property, this is a great opportunity to build knowledge, connect with forestry professionals, and develop a stewardship plan for your land.

Join UC ANRโ€™s team of forestry experts online and in-person at the upcoming Forest Stewardship Workshop this August focusing on Plumas and surrounding counties!

Get equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage California forestland and earn a free site visit with a Registered Professional Forester, CA Range Manager, or Burn Boss (an $800 value).

If you live in the forest, near a forest, or are interested in trees, this educational opportunity is for you. Learn about forest ecology, methods to reduce fire risk on your property, forest management planning, and more. Participants in this nine-week workshop series will receive expert assistance to identify their forest management goals and draft a forest management plan.

When: Tuesday evenings (6:00-7:30 PM) August 4-September 29, 2026 with an in-person field day Saturday, August 29, 2026
Where: Weekly meetings over Zoom, in-person field day in Plumas County
