Thomas Crane Public Library Foundation The Thomas Crane Public Library Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. H. Richardson building and its 1907 Aiken wing.

The Foundation supports and strengthens the mission of the Thomas Crane Public Library by raising the visibility of the library and its programs and encouraging community involvement. The Foundation initiates major fundraising efforts for projects above and beyond what city budgets can provide while reinforcing the need for continued and increased support for the library. Incorporated as a 501 (c)

(3) non-profit in 1995, the Foundation helped raise nearly $1 million in private donations for the 2001 expansion, renovation and restoration project of the main library. The project was carried out in two phases: the first, the renovation of the 1938 Coletti addition and the construction of a 55,000 square foot new addition; the second, the restoration of the 1882 National Historic Landmark H. Since the completion of the project the Foundation has been dormant. It was reactivated in January 2014 to initiate major fundraising efforts for the main library and its three branches.
