Congratulations to Gail Jacobs and Lisa Patacchiola, both of whom were recipients of the Appreciation Pin at the recent GSEMA Volunteer & Donor Recognition Celebration at the Tirrell Room in Quincy 👏!

The Girl Scouts of the USA Appreciation Pin recognizes volunteers actively providing outstanding service in support of the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience in at least one geographic area or program delivery audience. Recipients must be registered Girls Scout volunteers who actively recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior, and they must have contributed to meeting one or more council goals in membership grown and retention, fund development, and increased community visibility.

Congratulations to Courtney Joyce who was a recipient of the Five-Year Sustained Service Award and Cindy Trillcott who was a recipient of the Ten-Year Sustained Service Award. Cindy was also the recipient of the 30-Year Pin!

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Five- and Ten-Year Sustained Service Awards recognize volunteers actively giving service to Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts for five or more years since receiving a GSEMA/GSUSA Award. The Sustained Service Award was developed to ensure our most dedicated, long-term volunteers are regularly thanked and recognized.

These were well-deserved! Thank you Courtney and Cindy for your service, dedication and leadership.

Congratulations Donna Yang who was a recipient of both the Red Rose Award and the Thanks Badge!

The Red Rose Award recognizes a volunteer who actively demonstrates exemplary commitment to the Girl Scout values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in support of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in one ore more geographic areas. The Red Rose Award invokes the memory of the Red Rose Troop, the first Girl Scout troop in eastern Massachusetts and the third in the nation. This troop was started by Emma Hall and, in 1913, was the first nationally to welcome Black girls. This troop demonstrates that from the beginning of the Movement, eastern Massachusetts has been deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity for all girls; this award recognizes the volunteers who carry that commitment forward.

The Girl Scouts of the USA Thanks Badge is awarded to volunteers whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire Girl Scout Movement. Recipients must be registered Girl Scout volunteers who have taken a leadership role at the council level in one or more of the following areas during the previous four years: increasing membership growth and retention; increasing the percentage of adult-generated council funding; increasing innovative program opportunities council-wide; developing a broad participation in policy influencing decisions through the democratic process; and ensuring that inclusive behavior is recognized, understood, and practiced at all levels of the council.

Our truly ✨magical✨ Service Unit who gives so much energy, time, love, and attention to make all of our Girl Scout meetings, camping trips, events, field trips, and community giving all possible. Today we got to honor you! Along with many other awards that came home to our service unit today at the GSEMA Volunteer and Donor Recognition Celebration. Quincy Girl Scout Brownie Troop #84500 celebrated the end of a successful cookie season with a creative night at Next Chapter Books! 📚🎨

The girls learned how to wrap, paint, and stencil books during a special painting party hosted by the bookstore — complete with snacks and lots of creativity. Cookie season helps Girl Scouts fund memorable experiences like this while building leadership skills, giving back to the community, and earning badges along the way!

Spring Encampment ✅

Some of our Quincy Girl Scouts—spanning Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors—had the incredible opportunity to join the Haverhill Service Unit at Camp Cedar Hill this weekend for a fun-filled Spring Encampment!

From solving detective mysteries to trying archery, tackling the low ropes course, and making new friends, the girls stayed busy and had an amazing time 💛

We’re so grateful to Haverhill for welcoming us—our girls had a blast!
