OCD is often misunderstood, and it’s much more than liking things neat, organized, or “just right.”

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a real mental health condition that can involve unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that feel difficult to control. These symptoms can cause significant anxiety and interfere with everyday life.

Using “OCD” casually to describe being particular or organized can unintentionally minimize what living with the disorder is actually like. By learning the facts and challenging common misconceptions, we can help create more understanding and compassion for those affected by OCD.

As the seasons change, it can be a good reminder to check in with yourself, too. Give yourself permission to slow down, protect your peace, connect with the people who lift you up, and make your mental health a priority. Even small moments of self-care can make a difference.

Today is World Mental Health Day!

All week, we’ve celebrated Mental Health Spirit Week by focusing on simple ways to care for ourselves and one another, from practicing mindfulness and talking about our feelings to getting outside, showing gratitude, and checking in with a friend.

Today is a reminder that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Mental health affects how we think, feel, connect with others, handle challenges, and move through everyday life.

Caring for your mental health can look different for everyone. It might mean slowing down when you need a break, setting boundaries, staying connected to people who support you, making time for things that bring you joy, or reaching out for professional help when you need it.

Mental Health Spirit Week may be ending, but these are things we can practice all year long. Take care of yourself. Check in on the people around you. And always remember: You Matter.

Friendship Friday

As Mental Health Spirit Week comes to a close, today’s challenge is all about connection.

Check in with a friend. Ask how they’re doing and take the time to really listen to their answer.

You never know what someone may be carrying, and a simple conversation can remind them that they aren’t alone and that someone cares.

As we head into World Mental Health Day tomorrow, let’s remember that supporting mental health doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it starts with simply showing up for one another. Because You Matter.

Thankful Thursday

Today, we’re making room for gratitude.

Take a few minutes to write down a few things you’re thankful for, big or small. Then take it one step further and tell someone why you appreciate them.

A text, phone call, note, or simple "thank you" can brighten someone else’s day while reminding us of the good things and good people in our own lives.

What are you thankful for today?
