NO CLUB MEETING TONIGHT!!! Please join the Chronic Wasting Disease deer meeting at John Wood Community College at 6 pm.

09/29/2025

Deer hunters and all sportsmen, a single deer was detected with CWD in Adams County. Reminder that the IDNR will be conducting the public meeting on Chronic Wasting Disease this Thursday night. The Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen's Association meeting for that night has been canceled so that all can attend the CWD meeting.

The IDNR response to CWD in the northern part of the state has been to increase testing rates by paying overtime, hotels and travel allowance to IDNR staff to bait and shoot deer with rifles at night. They particularly target adult male deer for their testing. There are other counties where check stations are used to obtain additional samples.

The deer hunting tradition is very important to western Illinois. We all need to turn out for this meeting. Please share this reminder and get all your deer hunting friends to turn out.
