Our Story
The MVHFA has been in existence since 1914 supporting sportsmen, the natural resources and outdoor recreation in the Tri-state area. It is an Internal Revenue Service 501 c 3 charity, and donations and grants are deductible under the terms of IRC Section 170. The monthly general membership meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Eagle Club in Quincy. The MVHFA Board of Directors meets on the third Thursday of each month. Some of the key programs of the MVHFA include: 1. Supporting youth hunting programs for deer and waterfowl 2. Supporting youth shooting programs including the Boy Scouts and Quincy Rifle team 3. Supporting our Veterans through engagement in the outdoors in programs like Fishing For Freedom-Quincy and multiple Wounded Warrior, Purple Heart, active duty serviceman, and veterans hunts. 4. Supporting and developing area parks and public hunting areas. 5. Management of the Lymenstull Wildlife Refuge 6. The largest program in the state of building waterfowl and bird nesting structures 7. Support for youth outdoor skills camp 8. Support/sponsorship/partnership with other outdoor or natural resource protection organizations 9. Advocacy for environmental issues in the area 10. Programs for handicap hunters and fishermen by obtaining handicap access equipment such as all terrain wheelchairs, fishing piers/docks and hunting blinds
