Tonight 6:30-8 at Central Middle School✨

City To Host Mental Health And Su***de Prevention Community Forum

The City of Quincy Department of Veterans’ Services will host a community panel discussion and educational program on mental health and su***de prevention on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Central Middle School Auditorium, 875 Hancock Street. The event is free and open to all community members, families, friends and colleagues.

The program will bring together local leaders and professionals for an informative and compassionate conversation focused on giving people practical tools to recognize when someone may be struggling before a mental health crisis occurs. The discussion will focus on difficult questions to ask, signs to look and listen for, and different ways to offer support.

Panel participants will include representatives from the Quincy Police Department, Quincy Fire Department, Veterans Affairs, su***de prevention services and local mental health professionals.

The evening is designed not only for those directly affected by mental health challenges, but for anyone who wants to better understand how to recognize when a family member, friend, coworker or neighbor may need help — and how to respond in a meaningful and supportive way.

The message of the program is simple: You are not alone. Together, we can make a difference. By increasing awareness, encouraging conversation and helping people recognize potential warning signs, the City hopes to strengthen the network of support available throughout the community.

Anyone experiencing a mental health or suicidal crisis, or concerned about someone who may be struggling, can call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free and confidential.
