DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS FOR LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES
When the pandemic began over two years ago, so did the Sew Masks for Quincy IL Healthcare Workers, as masks were made and provided by volunteers to our local healthcare workers. Eventually, the project expanded to SEW MASKS FOR QUINCY IL with bundles of masks being distributed both locally to organizations and schools, as well as nationwide to fill various requests. Our masks for clergy mission were sent across the country and also overseas.
In addition to donated materials, supplies were purchased with Thrivent Action Team funds and also supported by monetary donations. Not only did we have local monetary support, but also from other folks from various parts of the nation.
When monetary donations were first accepted, I stated that any leftover funds at the end of the project would be distributed to local food pantries.
Five local food pantries have been chosen to each receive a portion of the remaining funds.
The funds are being evenly divided amongst these food pantries:
1. Open Hands Food Pantry at Lutheran Church of St. John
2. Community For Christ Assistance Center
3. Horizons Social Services
4. Quincy Catholic Charities
5. Quanada Food Pantry
The letters and checks have been mailed and they should be receiving the funds this week.
We were blessed with an abundance and outpouring of gracious gifts, talent, and time for our project that helped countless individuals and organizations over the past two years. By passing along the remaining funds to local food banks, we know that the monetary gifts we were given will be a blessing to other in the community.
