FSU Early Head Start

FSU Early Head Start Our Home Visitors will come into the home each week for a 90 minute visit to work with parent and child together.

The mission of the Florida State University (FSU) Early Head Start program is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning. FSU Early Head Start provides services to pregnant women and children through age 3, living in Gadsden County, Florida.The programs goal is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes

and enhance child development. Early Head Start offers:
~Weekly 90-minute home visits to show you activities you can
do with your child, keep track of your child’s development, and help them get ready for pre-school.
~Assistance with medical needs, like getting your child a doctor and understanding when it’s time to get well-baby visits and shots.
~Help with setting goals and linking families with other community agencies to meet their needs.
~Information on topics you may be interested in, including pregnancy health, parenting, and understanding you child’s behavior.
~Play Groups (called Group Socials) that are held at least twice a month with lots of activities, snacks, and fun!

Families are selected for our Head Start/Pre-K program based on the need of the family; not the order in which we receive your application. Eligibility is based on income and age. The child must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the year for which you are applying.

It's that time of year again! If your child will be 3 before 9/1/25, pre-k registration is open! You can register online for the 2025-2026 school year and next week they will be hosting screening days so don't miss it!!

Educational Screenings for the 2025-2026 school term will begin Tuesday, February 4,2025.

🛑Screenings are required for all students entering the program.

February 4-6, 2025 9:00 am-2:00 pm

With bad weather approaching our area, please make sure you are prepared! Gadsden County Shelters will be open at Gadsden County High School and West Gadsden Middle School for residents impacted by Helene starting 4 p.m. Wednesday. Residents with special needs are advised to go to the high school shelter. Pets are allowed at the high school shelter with proof of vaccination and should remain in crates. Pet owners are allowed to bring their pets necessary supplies.

Transportation to shelters will be provided for residents from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday from the following locations...
