At our weekly meetings we plan local & international service projects, hear from interesting speakers on a variety of topics, and generally have a good time.

Huge shout out to one of our own, Jack Freiburg, for speaking about the cool, new video that somehow captures beautifully 200 years of Adams County history in 18 or so minutes. Those in attendance got to take home a Adams County Bicentennial ruler, too.

We appreciate Todd Lamison and Amy Fischer with Walk to End Alzheimer's Quincy & Macomb for teaching us a little about Alzheimer's and letting us know of the various events they have coming up. Paint Quincy Purple will take place on Saturday, June 20, with several events, including a pickleball event at Paddle Up Quincy that day and a special night at the Quincy Doggy Paddlers game the same day. For more information, check out their page.

Thank you to those Rotarians who took time out of their schedules on Friday to participate in the annual United Way of Adams County, Inc. (Adams County, IL) Day of Caring. Our crew helped spruce up some of the bus stops around Quincy.

We appreciate Platt Daddy BBQ for hosting us for an after hours mixer tonight. The food and company were both great.

We heard today from Jason McCoy with Quincy Freedom Fest. What an event McCoy and his fellow volunteers have planned for July 3-4 at Clat Adams Park to celebrate America's 250th birthday. Check out the group's website for full details and mark your calendars for a huge fireworks display on Saturday, July 4. We appreciate Jason taking time to visit with us.

What a beautiful day for a ballgame on Saturday. It was Rotary Family Day at the Ballpark as the Cubs and Cardinals tangled at Busch Stadium. Our club was well represented at the game. You'll see the Ellerbrocks, Adam Duesterhaus, Gina Hayes and Nancy Waters alongside the 2027-28 Rotary International president Larry Lunsford. More than 1,000 Rotarians got to see the Cubs win (their only game of the series). Thanks to all who attended or purchased tickets. Proceeds go to our literacy projects.

Along with the United Way of Adams County, Inc. (Adams County, IL), we are pleased to introduce Kathi Dooley as the 2026 recipient of the Joe Bonansinga Community Service Award. In addition to helping grow the Quincy Public School District 172 music programs over her long educational career, Kathi has been a tireless supporter and advocate for Quincy and Adams County.

In addition to having her name added to the impressive list of past winners of the award, which is named after "Mr. Quincy" Joe Bonansinga, a long-time Rotarian, Kathi was named a Paul Harris Fellow.

Thanks to all who made Tuesday's event happen, and thank you Kathi for helping making Quincy and Adams County a great place to live, work and play.
