I am seeking election as your representative on the Quincy School Board. The school district has outlined their values and expectations for student success in the “Quincy Promise,” I want to help the district meet that standard. Public school should be the home of educational fundamentals, with respect to all political affiliations. Parent’s voices have been overrun by state policy that may or may not apply to our community, parent’s rights should be represented and not ignored. Last year, sexual education was radically changed at the state level, but the district still has some say in implementation. This year, in the name of social justice, we are reshaping how we look at history and asking our children to cast blame on their peers for the inequities in our society.
This past year we’ve learned that everything we take for granted as normal can be taken away in an instant. Our children need stability and consistency, especially in the school system. Parents and teachers alike should be heard by the school board, together they are what makes our district successful. The dynamic conditions of the last year have been tough, and lessons have been learned. Most importantly we learned there isn’t a one size fits all solution. If elected I will help Quincy School District fulfill its promise, and ensure it reflects our communities values.
