Hurricane Helene Intensifies to Category 4 Ahead of Florida Landfall

Hurricane has intensified into a Category 4 hurricane ahead of its Florida landfall.

In a 6:20 p.m. EDT update Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said Helene's winds had increased to 130 mph based on observations from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter mission.

is now increasingly likely to be the strongest hurricane on record to landfall in Florida's Big Bend region.
