2026 FWB Annual Meeting - Sunday, June 28, 2026 - 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Please join us for our annual meeting to be held at the Kennedy Center, 440 East Squantum Street, Quincy (across from Moswetuset Hummock). All are welcome.

Friends of Wollaston Beach will recognize M. Sgt John Delorenzo for his decades of service to the Quincy community through his leadership of the North Quincy High School Junior ROTC program. Our programs, like so many across the city, would not have been possible without his support.

Also joining FWB is Faries Gray, the Sagamore (War Chief) of the Massachusetts Tribe at Ponkapoag and on the Massachusetts tribal historians will speak about Native American contributions to the area now known as Wollaston Beach

The meeting will conclude with Election of officers. Light refreshments will be served.

To ensure we have sufficient refreshments, if you could please RSVP to [email protected], it would be appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

So happy to see the City recognize M. Sgt. Delorenzo for his decades of service to the city. Without the NQJROTC cadets, of Wollaston Beach would not be able to do the beach cleanups and host our events. Come to our General Meeting on June 28th to honor Sarge one more time.

Mayor Tom Koch recently presented the 2026 Richard J. Koch Youth Service Award to MSgt. John DeLorenzo, United States Air Force (Ret.), in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the youth of Quincy through his leadership and dedication to the ROTC program at North Quincy High School. Although the award is traditionally presented during Quincy's Flag Day Celebration, this year's presentation was held earlier to accommodate DeLorenzo's schedule.

As a dedicated mentor and educator, DeLorenzo has helped promote leadership, foster patriotism and encourage students to develop a deeper appreciation for service to others.

The Richard J. Koch Youth Service Award honors individuals whose commitment to young people reflects the vision of its namesake, Richard J. Koch, who believed that every child deserves the chance to succeed. His guiding philosophy remains at the heart of the award: “The enjoyment, the participation of the youngster is paramount—and the competition secondary.”

The City of Quincy invites residents to attend the 2026 75th Annual Flag Day Parade and Ceremony on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The annual celebration honors the history of the American flag and the community spirit that has made Quincy's Flag Day observance a cherished tradition for generations.

How lucky are we to be in a community which celebrates our rich history!

Mayor Tom Koch & the City of Quincy proudly invite residents and visitors alike to celebrate Quincy’s rich maritime heritage in honor of America’s 250th anniversary with two signature waterfront events this summer at Marina Bay: the Quincy Maritime Festival, July 3–5, and a special visit by the internationally renowned tall ship Oosterschelde on July 17 & 18.

Held along the Marina Bay Boardwalk, the Quincy Maritime Festival returns as a free, family-friendly Independence Day weekend celebration showcasing the City’s deep connection to the sea, shipbuilding, and coastal traditions. The three-day festival will feature live entertainment, historic reenactments, children’s parades, maritime activities, and waterfront attractions for all ages.

Later in July, Quincy will welcome the historic Dutch tall ship Oosterschelde to Safe Harbor Marina Bay as part of the City’s ongoing America 250 commemorations. The Oosterschelde, one of the world’s finest restored sailing vessels, will make a ceremonial arrival on Thursday, July 16, escorted into Marina Bay by the Quincy Police Marine Unit. Public deck tours aboard the historic vessel will be offered on Friday, July 17, Saturday, July 18, & Sunday, July 19, giving residents and visitors a rare opportunity to step aboard a living piece of maritime history and experience one of the last authentic tall ships of its kind still sailing today.

With free admission and free parking, the Quincy Maritime Festival and Oosterschelde Tall Ship visit offer something for everyone — from history enthusiasts and food lovers to young families and music fans.

As an organization committed to protecting the environment (especially the Beach), we lead local cleanups several times a year.
On April 25th, over 75 people took part in ParkServe Day, a DCR volunteer event to prepare state parks and beaches for the summer. Special thanks to the folks from the Liberty Hotel in Boston, CEC Consulting, and the always amazing cadets from North Quincy High School Jr. ROTC program. Thanks M.Sgt. De1orenzo for sharing your cadets with us!

But we have more to do! On Saturday, May 2nd we will participate in Cleaner Greener Quincy, the citywide cleanup and beautification event (https://www.quincyma.gov/specialevents/cleanergreener.php). Join us at Caddy Park from 10am - noon.

Stay tuned for future cleanups.
