Concert in the Barn patrons! Our friends at Music on the Strait are presenting a wonderful concert in Port Angeles on Saturday night. The musicians are superb, so is the repertoire, and you can choose your ticket price. What could be finer?

A few weeks ago, Ellen Jewett, one of our violinists who performed at the Festival before moving to Istanbul, forwarded an old video recording of the Dvorak piano quartet in E flat minor, performed on August 26, 2001. Alan, as usual, made the opening remarks. It is a lovely memory of the wonderful man and consummate musician who helped bring chamber music to our community in such a relaxed, inviting environment.

We are saddened to announce that Alan Iglitzin, founder of the Olympic Music Festival and Concerts in the Barn and founding member of the Philadelphia String Quartet, has passed away. He was 93. For more than 30 years, Alan brought world-class musicians to perform world-class chamber music in a rustic barn in Quilcene.

A tribute party will be held in his honor in the Barn. The date will be announced on our website, social media, and to everyone on our mailing list. It will be open to the public.

Alan Iglitzin, the acclaimed violist and founding member of the Philadelphia String Quartet, which battled and won a long legal war with the Philadelphia Orchestra to become the University of Washington’s quartet in residence, died on September 15th in his home on Bainbridge Island, WA. He was 93....

Ending our season this year was acclaimed pianist Eleonora Karpuhova, who wowed our audience with works by Ravel, Rachmaninov, and more. Our volunteers outdid themselves making our final concert of the year into a real party. We’re already planning the 2026 season, so make sure you’re on our email list and stay tuned!
