Since 1984, chamber music concerts performed by world-class artists have taken place in an iconic dairy barn on the Olympic Peninsula.

Join us for a special Opening Night 2026, featuring Music on the Strait’s first journey into the operatic world. Renowned mezzo soprano Abigail Nims performs Resphigi’s deeply expressive Il Tramonto (The Sunset) as well as El Mundo, a world premiere arrangement by our composer-in-residence, Gabriela Lena Frank, recent winner of a Pulitzer Prize. We close our program with Erno Dohnanyi’s richly melodic Piano Quintet in C minor, welcoming back pianist August Baik, who impressed audiences with his Music on the Strait debut earlier this year!

Sunday, July 19th, 2 pm, is the last CITB concert of the season! ELISA BARSTON & AMY BARSTON perform barn burners: Scottish fiddle tunes, followed by Beethoven’s beloved “Archduke” piano trio and the piano quartet in A major by Johannes Brahms. This weekend, we welcome back the CARPE DIEM STRING QUARTET. On Friday afternoon, they’re presenting an original work—“An American Story”—which traces the path of each quartet member’s ancestry to the U.S.A. With this interactive program, composed by the Quartet, you’ll have a chance to weigh in on what path each ancestor should take. On Saturday and Sunday, the Carpies take up their bows to perform works by Erwin Schulhoff, one of Beethoven’s earliest string quartets, and the unrestrained romanticism of Tchaikovsky’s string quartet No. 1.
