Coyle Women's Club

Coyle Women's Club Coyle Women's Club Welcome to the Coyle Women's Club! In years past the Coyle Women's Club has funded many projects which have improved the Laurel B.

We are a group of ladies (and gentlemen!) who love our small community in the woods and encourage kindred spirits through theme dinners, Soup & Games afternoons, outreach and engagement with all residents. Johnson Coyle Community Center. Our club has also made substantial donations to the Parks and Recreation Board, as well as local charities. The majority of funds are raised through our dinners,

with occasional bake sales, raffles, and silent auctions also giving us needed funds to flow back to the community. We would love for you to join us, because we need your ideas, energy, and your involvement to make our organization and community shine!

Today, Memorial Day, is a day to remember and honor the men and women of the military who died while serving our country. According to he Wounded Warrior Project…

”Memorial Day is a reminder of the brave men and women who served our country and gave their lives for our freedom.

It's not just a day off; it's a time to think about why we remember these heroes. For veterans, it's a chance to honor those who are no longer here.

Use this day to show how grateful we are for their bravery, and as a promise that we'll always remember their courage and sacrifice.”

At 3pm today, you are invited to pause what you are doing and participate in “The National Moment of Remembrance” as an act of unity. Passed by Congress in 2000, this is a minute of silence to remember and
honor those who have died in service to the nation.

RIP

Oh What a Night!

Coyle Community - you did us proud!!! The Fish and Chips dinner was a SELLOUT before we even started serving!! And so many of you made additional donations. And the dinner was DELICIOUS. And thanks for your patience!! And thanks for enjoying the whole community center - playing games, hanging out in the sun, wandering the Ppatch! And of course thanks to Bob and all of the CWC women who prepped, helped served, and cleaned! And..and.. well feel free to share what made the night special for you!

Apologies to those who showed up, but were too late. We appreciate the effort you made, and hope you can come earlier next year!

OMG!!! It’s almost here!!! Tomorrow the doors open at 5:00 at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center for the ANNUAL Fish and Chips Dinner. And our first dinner since getting the new well and all the approvals!

Even tho’ we call it “Bob’s Famous Fish and Chips” - it really takes a whole crew, not just the captain to bring this dinner to you! At least 8 others were working today at the Community - prepping food and decorating the community center in style!!

The day is going to be sunny that you can eat inside or out!

The price is SOOOO good ($10 for adults, 5$ for kiddos) that you will probably want to donate some additional funds to the CWC!

The food is going to be SO GOOD that you will be willing to wait your turn! YES we will get to everyone and NO we are not a fast food joint! Time to relax and get your summer vibe going.

Did we mention homemade red VELVET cupcakes for dessert. Don’t worry, they will have the traditional light and fluffy Ermine Frosting by the time they get to you!

Yes……. Good things come to those who wait!

Living on Coyle isn’t ALL Fun and Games . WELL ACTUALLY IT CAN BE! Especially if you go to GAME DAY. The next one is Tuesday, May 26th at 1:00 pm. A nice way to transition from the 3-day weekend - right into summer.

For our afternoon break, one of our master players is bringing a surprise treat. As he always shares new and exciting games with us, this should be a true mystery delight!

Come join the merriment!

FISH AND CHIPS weren’t the only things started in the 1860s.

First observed nationally in 1868, it was to honor the Civil War dead, the original name for Memorial Day was Decoration Day.

After the world wars it became a day of remembrance for ALL U.S military who fought and died in service.

The term “Memorial Day” was used first in 1882 and was declared the official name in 1967.

In 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which moved Memorial Day from its traditional date of May 30th to the last Monday in May.

And that is why we now have a three day weekend.

For many, Memorial Day Weekend also means the beginning of summer. And what a better way to start summer than the Fish and Chips Dinner on Saturday at the Community Center.

FISH AND CHIPS!!!!

Do you know they have been around EVEN longer than Bob!! Sounds like the combo of Fish and Chips started sometime in the 1860s, maybe even earlier!

The tradition of Bob’s Famous Fish and Chips for Memorial Day has been around for awhile - but not quite that long. Keep the tradition alive and join us Saturday May 23! Doors open at 5, we don’t start serving until 5:30, AND these are made fresh in our tiny kitchen! So you may have to wait a bit. No worries, you can visit with neighbors and friends, play games (that shed is full of them) or visit the PPatch and pick your own herbal bouquet.

Really, what’s more memorial than eating good food that someone else cooks!! YAY BOB and his mighty helpers.

Cool video about the new water system. (Not to be confused with the well at the community center - which now also up and running).
