Summary: Emma Murray – Saratoga soccer and Nordic skiing star athlete. She was the girls Nordic team captain and had some epic performances this year. She came into the season knowing that this one would be her last. Coming off a very successful soccer season winning sectionals and making it to the State quarter finals she had the taste of victory but yearned for more. For Nordic, she had excellent results this season placing either 1st or 2nd in all but one invitational earning the no. 2 point ranking pre-qualifying her for states.
She placed 4th at sectionals and 8th at states giving Saratoga the lead for points after day 1 of the 7.5k classic. On day two of the State Championship Emma began the anchor leg of the 3 x 2.5km relay tied with Saranac Lake. After about 2km she emerged from the woods well ahead of the second place Saranac Lake team securing victory for the Toga girls relay team which ended in the team’s first state title in school history! Not only is Emma a star athlete, but she also excels at the highest level academically. She was also awarded the Section 2 Sportsmanship Award at States for her leadership and determination. Best wishes go out to her as she is attending and playing soccer for Haverford College next year.
