On Sunday, April 26th members of the Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. (LNDCAC) attended and provided standby medical coverage at the Great Unveiling of the Padre Pio Shrine of Little Neck, now located at 45-32 Little Neck Parkway.

During the ceremony, our members were moved by Giuseppe Oppedisano’s profound experience of recovering in the hospital after surviving a tragic plane crash, as well as the many blessings, speeches, and songs that followed the telling of his story. The day brought together hundreds of people to a place of faith, gratitude and community.

With our services being needed at this event, we also greatly appreciate Chaplain Rev. Father Joseph Fonti for giving our members a special blessing after the ceremony as first responders, healthcare providers, and volunteers.

LNDCAC is happy to provide medical standby and showcase what we do.

On the rainy morning of Saturday, April 25th, members of the Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. (LNDCAC) participated in and provided standby medical coverage for the Udalls Cove 57th Annual Cleanup. Our Youth Corps, Attendants, and EMTs all traversed and helped clean the swampy low tide marshes of various finding interesting trash items.

Thank you to the Udalls Cove Preservation Committee for welcoming the agency each year, and for hosting a great picnic lunch at the Community Church of Douglaston. While we will be more wary of losing a boot or two to the mud next year, we are happy to help preserve the wetlands of Little Neck and Douglaston!

On Friday, April 17th, the Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. (LNDCAC) was requested to respond to P.S. 94Q. Upon arrival, dozens of 4th graders were found in the auditorium eagerly awaiting our arrival.

To our surprise, the teachers, staff, parents, and students, collectively put together a huge thank you basket for the corps, combined with handwritten letters and hand drawn notes from each of the students, following their visit to our station this past January. The letters and drawings were all so sweet! Some even drew our station with surprisingly accurate scaling and details.

Thank you thank you to the 4th grade classes of P.S. 94Q for putting together such a thoughtful gift!

The Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. (LNDCAC) wishes a safe and exciting ride to all who will be participating in the 2026 TD Five Boro Bike Tour!

LNDCAC will be 1 of 3 New York City Volunteer EMS agencies supporting the FDNY as one of dozens of ambulances, hundreds of EMS personnel, and thousands of first responders along the 40-mile route

Our ambulance will be far from home posting in Long Island City. We will be covering medical emergencies from the Queens side of the Queens Boro Bridge (Mile 15) to the Pulaski Bridge (Mile 22).

It is with sadness to share the passing of Associate Member Joanna Stenzel on Friday, April 24th.

Since February 8th, 1984, Joanna began as a Dispatcher at the Little Neck-Douglaston Community Ambulance Corps, Inc. (LNDCAC) answering phone calls on our general office and emergency line along with dispatching our ambulance crews. Since then, Joanna has served as Corresponding Secretary for many years, playing an integral part in our Fund Drive Mailing Campaigns before, during, and after. Over the span of decades, Joanna would write thousands of personalized handwritten thank you letters to those that have donated to our cause

With her decades of service to LNDCAC, Joanna was also a beloved congregant of 80+ years and dedicated secretary of Christ Lutheran Chruch of Little Neck until their closure in 2022, a Girl Scout leader of Troop 4-470, and avid marcher in the Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade

With a huge loss to the community, we come together to celebrate Joanna’s life.
