We are so sad Levante is closing! Their last day is this Friday. We are glad we got to go for a last meal. The pizza is so good! We started with Ruchetta (baby arugula, fennel, orange segment, shaved Parmigiano, citrus dressing), and our pizzas were the Alessia (mozzarella, oven-roasted mushrooms, Parmigiano, truffle pate, burrata) and the Capricciosa (mozzarella, tomato sauce, black olives, mushrooms, artichokes). Burrata on pizza is a game-changer! Hopefully another place will do that after Levante is gone.

The other day we went to Pig Beach BBQ Queens for a warm weather hang. There are a ton of TVs, including a really large projection screen in the beer garden, so it’s a great place for watching sports. There are also plenty of beer and cider options for drinks (as well as soft drinks) and there is a large BBQ menu (the cornbread was quite good). There is also Co****le! This is a great place to hang out with a group, just be aware that on days that the World Cup is happening, there is a $10 cover.

The other day we went for brunch to osteriabrooklynlic, and we were very pleased with the experience and meal. During the day there was a lot of light that came into the restaurant (it’s right by the waterfront), which was very nice. We got the omelette (Sauté mushroom, mozzarella, spinach, organic salad), which was tasty, and we appreciated that it came with a side salad and roasted potatoes. Both of those sides made it feel like a complete meal. We also liked the basket of bread that came before the food. In the warmer weather there is the option of dining outside. We definitely recommend this place for brunch.

The other day we went to matsuzukisakura, which opened about five months ago. The interior is very nice, and feels modern and artsy. The food was also quite good. We started with the Avocado Salad (fresh and tasty with a nice orange dressing), and had a number of rolls for the main course, including California Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Spider Roll, and Chicken Tempura Roll, which we hadn’t had before but we really liked. One thing to keep in mind is they don’t yet have a liquor license, so no alcohol, but you can BYOB. Definitely check this place out for delicious and authentic Japanese food.

Summer is almost here and outdoor dining is in full swing! The other day we had a very pleasant meal at Agnanti Meze, an authentic Greek restaurant located at the northeastern corner of Astoria Park. For starters, we tried Ntakos, a refreshing cretan rusk salad mixed well with fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, olive, and capers, as well as Shrimp Kataifi, a delicious sweet and sour dish with shrimp rolled in finely shredded pastry and dipped in homemade mustard sauce. A full Greek menu is available but we highly recommend trying the Agnanti specialty - rooster cooked in tomato sauce with imported pasta squares. We received complementary desserts after the meal as well. If you find yourself in Astoria Park this summer, give this spot a try!

We had a delicious Szechuan meal at (by the Vernon-Jackson subway stop) the other day. We started with Pot Stickers, and for our mains we had Chicken with Broccoli and Stir-fried Udon with Beef. The food was flavorful and seemed authentic. The sauces were quite good as well.

We recently went to .lic and picked up a great birthday card. It’s a nice gift shop by the water, and in addition to greeting cards, it also has things like clothes, bags, candles and artwork. We recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a gift for yourself or someone else.

The other day we went to the very cool and unique x QWEENJD: Night Shift. It was a live symphonic-DJ hybrid that transformed the traditional orchestra into an immersive club-inspired experience. The encouraged dress code was Bioluminescence inspired by warmer nights, the ocean, and light in motion. The orchestra played along with a DJ to classical music (like Stravinsky, Bach and Beethoven) as well as to pop (such as Lady Gaga). Behind the musicians was a digital screen with animations, and there were also dancers who performed solo and also together at the end. It took place in , which is an industrial space in a former trolley repair shop. This felt like a very Queens experience. We haven’t done anything like this before, and can’t wait for the next one! We recommend checking it out.

We had an excellent meal the other day at (45-04 Pearson St, LIC). Nice ambiance, good lighting, attentive service, and tasty dishes. We had Beef Lo Mein and Garlic Sauce Chicken (Spice level 3/10. Sweet, sour, and spicy. Stir-fried with ginger, garlic, bamboo, wood ear mushrooms, and bell peppers. Served with white rice). It was only 3/10 spice level, but it definitely had a little kick. The sweet and sour flavors worked well together and we really liked this dish. We recommend this place!
