We had a great meal at SAPPS NYC the other night with some very unique dishes. We started with Sapp’s Pizza (topped with tobiko, tuna and jalapeño). Then Gyu Don (bowl of rice topped with beef and onion, simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi, soy sauce, mirin and soft poached eggs) for entrées, and flourless chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. Definitely recommend this spot. Huge menu with lots of options.

We had a very nice Happy Hour at OFFCITY the other day, and the weather was great so we were able to sit outside on the patio. Good vibes and good times! There was also live jazz that started at 9pm.

The other day we went to Ralph’s Astoria for Italian ices, and they were quite good! We had a combo Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cappuccino Creme Ice. This is a walk up, so it was nice that we grabbed a table at Athens Square Park across the street.

We had a great dinner at Rivercrest | Astoria, Queens the other day, with the Rivercrest Burger, Steak Sandwich, and Carne Asada Street Tacos. We also super appreciated that they had apples and honey for us to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year—for a sweet year ahead. The staff and owners of Rivercrest are fantastic, and we always feel like they give top-notch service when we go. It’s no wonder they’ve been BOAST Winners for so many years. Just check out their front window full of winner stickers!

We had a great meal at Takumen & Taku Parlor the other night. Our starter was Dashi Edamame (steamed) which had a super tasty seasoning, and it may be the best edamame we’ve ever had. Our entrées were the Takumen Chicken Rice Bowl and the Beef Dry Curry Rice Bowl. The rice bowls are delicious. They are filled with fresh items and have nice flavors. The food here is top notch, the service is excellent, and there is a very nice atmosphere. It can get filled up, so you may want to make a reservation.

The other day we went to Jing Li-井禮 for dinner. We really liked the interior design, and it felt like we were in another country. The food was good as well. We had Dumplings, Fried Vermicelli with egg and veggies, and Chicken with broccoli. As an FYI, when we went we were not able to do substitutions or additions to the dishes. Definitely a solid Chinese restaurant.

Right now, our favorite brunch spot in LIC is osteriabrooklynlic. We really appreciate that the Osteria Omelette (with sauté mushrooms, mozzarella and spinach) also comes with salad and potatoes. Makes it a complete meal! And the Italian Toast (with mascarpone, strawberries, fresh mint and organic maple syrup) is sweet and delicious. Just don’t get filled up on the tasty homemade bread provided before the main dishes. (It was warm and so good.) There is seating indoors and outdoors, and it’s also right by the waterfront. We recommend this place.

Focal Point is such a great place for a gathering or party of any kind! There is a large indoor space, a large outdoor space, and plenty of covered area too. Such good beers on tap, and you can bring in food from other establishments, like pizza, Indian or Mexican all super close by.

We had a great time the other night at QueensRoomNYC. Some of our dishes included Creamy Polenta, Seared Tofu with veggies, QR Burger, Fries and Cacio E Peppe. This is a great spot for brunch, dinner, or coffee/espresso. Good vibes and nice ambiance!

We had a very nice meal the other night at Dai Hachi LIC, including Dragon Roll and a Bento Box with salmon teriyaki, California Roll, vegetable gyoza, rice, salad and miso soup. This place is quite fast with the food, and the service is attentive.
