Duvalle — Keeper of Courage
In this Tropical Realism™ Masterpiece, Sir Calvert Jones brings Chief Duvalle—brother to National Hero Joseph Chatoyer—into the foreground of Yurumein’s story. When Chatoyer fell at Dorsetshire Hill in March 1795, Duvalle assumed command, driving a coordinated two-front campaign with support from French allies. Months of guerrilla resistance ended in British capture and the exile from Balliceaux to Roatán—the genesis of today’s Garifuna diaspora.
Painted mid-charge, buttoo raised and musket slung, he stands not in anyone’s shadow but at the front of memory.
