The evolution of justice is here.
Born from the frontline experiences of Community Capacity Development, we’re moving beyond the old models of punishment and policing. It’s time to embrace a future rooted in healing and community-led safety.
We’re teaching the world a new formula:
Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

Happy Kwanzaa! The first day is all about Umoja (Unity), which focuses on striving for and maintaining unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

Today marks the first day of Kwanzaa as we light the black candle. Umoja reminds us that our strength lies in our togetherness. Let’s commit to building stronger bonds within our families and communities this year.

Deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve and build alongside true partners in purpose. Serving together in the CM Jumaane D. Williams administration—as Legislative Director and Director of Budgetary Affairs—was more than a role; it was a formative chapter shaped by Jumaane’s courageous, values-driven leadership and his commitment to dignity, equity, and people-powered governance. His vision and trust created the space for real innovation.

Two kids from Brooklyn. Children of immigrants. Raised in single-parent homes and shaped by the public school system and the lived realities of our neighborhoods. What bound us was never titles or proximity to power, but proximity to community—doing the work when it was hard, principled, and often unseen.

Progress measured in lives protected and futures made possible—not optics.

As New York City enters a new era, an exciting future awaits this work. The foundation is strong, the lessons are real, and the commitment to serving our communities with humility and purpose remains. Forever grateful. Still showing up.

The Human Justice Model is our roadmap. It’s the belief that every young person deserves to be safe, thriving, and free from the cycles of violence and trauma. We’re moving beyond just “surviving” and demanding a world where our youth can flourish.

Strategic planning in real time.

Honored to be in dialogue with NYC leadership and Mayor-elect grounding the future of public safety in what actually works: people-powered solutions, community leadership, and a public health approach to safety.

This is about building on proven models, strengthening infrastructure, removing barriers, and keeping the grassroots at the center—while scaling what works across New York City.

From crisis response to long-term prevention, healing over harm, and investment over abandonment—this is the evolution of public safety.

The work continues.

No one should have to face hunger alone. A single food drive can create a ripple effect of hope and support in our community. When we give, we’re not just donating food; we’re sharing compassion, building resilience, and reminding our neighbors that they are cared for.
Let’s stand together to nourish our community. Every single item counts! ❤️

We must recognize that violence is not an individual pathology but a predictable response to structural inequality.”
— Dr. Eddie Ellis

At CCD and across the Human Justice Network, our work rejects narrow, enforcement-only solutions. We operate outside traditional systems because traditional systems were never designed to heal the conditions that produce violence. Instead, we invest in human development, credible messengers, community infrastructure, and dignity as public safety strategies.

The impact is measurable: sustained reductions in shootings, restored trust, and communities reclaiming their right to safety and self-determination. This is not an alternative to public safety. It is people-powered public safety rooted in Human Justice.

Human Rights + Human Development = Human Justice.

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Robert Treat Hotel, K Bain shared crucial insights on the building blocks for true change:
• Building strong organizational foundations.
• Developing effective leadership pipelines.
• Implementing the essential systems for safer, healthier communities.
This discussion is central to our mission of driving human justice in our communities.

We are Stronger Together. United we Stand! Our dedicated Human Justice Ambassadors came together to canvass for our mission of unity in action. This wasn’t just about reaching doors; it was about the invaluable experience of working together and learning from each other. Every conversation debriefed and every moment of encouragement helped us grow stronger as a team and more effective in our outreach.
