💔 **It’s only Tuesday, and we’re already heartbroken and frustrated.**
Four families have reached out this week wanting to return animals they adopted from our rescue. It's ONLY Tuesday.
🐾 1 dog adopted last week
🐾 1 dog adopted in 2022
🐾 2 cats adopted in December 2024
🐾 1 cat adopted in August
**Five animals. Four families. And it’s not even the end of the week.**
This doesn’t even include the returns we’ve dealt with in previous weeks.
Behind every adoption is an animal we promised to help find a loving, forever home. We celebrate when they leave our care because we believe they’re beginning the next chapter of their lives. So when those same families come back asking to return them, it hurts. It’s frustrating. And honestly, it’s exhausting.
We understand that life happens. Circumstances change, and sometimes things truly don’t work out. We will always do our best to help the animals in our care, even when that means taking them back.
But **adoption is supposed to be a commitment, not a temporary arrangement.** These animals depend on us to make good decisions for them, and they depend on their adopters to give them the stability and love they deserve.
Every return means another animal who may be confused, stressed, and wondering why the family they knew is gone. It also means another spot, another set of resources, and another emotional toll on a rescue already trying to save the next animal in need.
We are tired. We are frustrated. But most of all, we are sad for the animals who deserve so much better.
**Please, before you adopt, understand what forever means.** These are living, breathing beings who bond with their families. They are not disposable when life gets inconvenient.
We will continue to show up for them, even when our hearts are breaking. We just wish more people understood the weight of the commitment they make when they bring an animal home. 💔🐾
