🐴 Quick Clarification for Our Tuckahoe Riders! 🐴

There seems to be a little confusion about the recent trail announcement, so we wanted to clear it up!

The 1.5 miles mentioned is NOT the total amount of horse trails at Tuckahoe State Park. There are over 15 miles of trails available to ride, with even more trails being developed! 🌳🐎

The only area we are asking riders to avoid right now is the newly restored wetland berms near Eveland Road. These berms are fragile and also have muskrat holes that can be dangerous for horses.

The highlighted 1.5-mile route simply shows where horses CAN still travel within that particular wetland area.

So please keep coming out and enjoying Tuckahoe! There are miles and miles of beautiful trails waiting for you. 💜

Important Announcement from Tuckahoe State Park:

Important Trail & Access Update:
Wetland Berms Closed to Horses

Please be aware of a recent update regarding access in the Eveland Road restoration areas. Following significant repair work completed in partnership with Ducks Unlimited, Engineering & Construction, Watershed and Climate Services, and Park Staff,
horses are no longer permitted on the new wetland berms.

Why the change?
Berm Integrity: The newly repaired berms remain extremely fragile while the ground stabilizes.
Safety Hazard: Active muskrat populations have created extensive holes and underground tunnels across the berms, posing a severe trip and injury hazard for horses and riders.

Where you CAN still ride:
The lane remains fully open to horses.
The main pathway through the original far corner remains open for riding.
Look out for new "No Horses" signage posted around the wetlands. Please review the attached map before your next outing to familiarize yourself with the updated route.
Essentially the map shows a pink highlighted path that horses can take in and back out again (just over 1.5 miles round trip).
