Sadly, life member Gary Wooten has passed. His celebration f life will be on Thursday, Nov 20 at 1 pm in VFW backyard at 305 n Central in Q. Reception to follow in canteen, all that knew Gary are welcome.

Another hero has gone to heaven. Bob Braa, a life member and former Commander of 769 has passed on. Our prayers go out to Jean and all the family.

Flags and Flowers, the program the VFW Auxiliary has adopted to make sure all Veterans are remembered, will take place at the Hi Jolly Cemetary at 9:30 am on Friday, May 23. The Girl Scouts and our adopted Marine unit VMFA 225 will be assisting as we refresh the flags and flowers on our military graves. The public is welcome to assist. Cemetary flags are provided annually by Ace hardware, flowers are provided by VFW Auxiliary 769.

This year's Memorial Day Program, hosted by VFW 769 and it's Auxiliary will be held on Monday, May 26th at the Hi Jolly Collumbarium Shelter at 9 am. This is a time change due to heat issues. This event is open to the public, please share this time change, so everyone has the chance to help us honor our fallen. The girl scouts will be joining us with poppies, Memorial pins and water.
The Girl Scouts will also be assisting with our hot dog and hamburger lunch at the VFW at noon at VFW Post 769, 305 N Central, which is open to the public and is free to Veterans. Both the dining room and backyard are open for this event. Run for the Wall, the national motorcycle ride honoring Vietnam Veterans by riding from California to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall in Washington DC each Memorial Day begins in AZ on Wed May 14. They will be on Hwy 10 and Quartzsite is their 1st AZ stop. Local law enforcement is assisting by blocking 1 lane of the Highway 95 overpass and we are all invited to be on the overpass at 12:30 on Wed the 14th to encourage this 100 plus motorcycle caravan. The VFW Aux will have flags for waving and atvs for assistance with mobility or heat issues. Water and umbrellas recommended. Please bring your families to participate.
