๐จ Found Kittens? Please Read Before You Pick Them Up. ๐จ
Every spring and summer, well-meaning people find kittens alone and assume they have been abandoned. In many cases, mom is nearby hunting, hiding, or waiting for people to leave before returning to care for her babies.
Before you scoop up a litter, please remember:
๐พ See Kittens โ Stop โ Observe โ Give Mom a Chance to Return
The vast majority of kittens under 8 weeks old are still dependent on their mother. Removing them too soon can dramatically reduce their chances of survival.
If you choose to take kittens from their environment, please understand that you are also taking responsibility for their care. Very young kittens require around-the-clock feeding, warmth, stimulation to potty, medical care, and often weeks or months of commitment.
โค๏ธ We know people are trying to help. We truly appreciate that.
However, The Frank & Lucy Project is a small, volunteer-run rescue with limited space, limited foster homes, and limited resources. We cannot take every kitten that is found, and there are times when we simply have no available room.
When you call us, please remember:
๐ฑ We did not create the situation.
๐ฑ We are volunteers donating our time.
๐ฑ We are doing everything we can with the resources available.
๐ฑ We want the best outcome for every animal, even when we cannot physically take them in.
We are always happy to provide guidance, education, and resources when possible. All we ask in return is kindness and respect.
Sometimes the best rescue is not removing the kittens at all.
When in doubt, WATCH FIRST.
The best rescue may be giving mom time to return.
