Fun fact: As the Intelligencer Journal reported in 1976, five area bands joined together that year for the 'Bicen Band.' (File that idea away for the 'tricen' in 2076!) Meantime, here's your weekly reminder that we'll welcome one fifth of that vintage colab to the Huffnagle Stage on June 27. The Malta Band will bust out some patriotic classics just days before the country's 250th!

Huffnagle Summer Concerts are in good company. Thanks to LNP + LancasterOnline for including us in this list. You could seriously spend the entire summer moving from free concert to free concert in Lancaster County! (Fun fact: Among the members of Mark DeRose and the Dreadnoughts, who play Aug. 15 out at Lancaster's Shoppes at Belmont, is Solanco Middle Schools Band Director Mr. Shickora!) Our concerts here at Huffnagle kick off May 30 with Nate Myers and the Aces. See you there!

If you're looking for an event to keep in your back pocket for uneventful summer days, keep this list handy.

If you've got extra cans of in-date chicken soup, kindly bring those -- along with your blanket or chair -- to the May 30 concert at Huffnagle. The Lions are welcoming to this summer's concerts a representative from nearby Solanco Neighborhood Ministries to collect items most needed by the food bank. Stay tuned for which item is being requested each time. FYI, we'll still pass the basket for anyone willing to make a small cash donation to help the Lions pay for these bands. That's appreciated, but completely voluntary. These concerts are free. Zero pressure to donate.
