Open Mic Night isn’t just about the lights, the stage, or the performances.

Art changes lives. Through poetry, spoken word, music, comedy, and storytelling, people are able to express themselves, connect with others, and feel seen.

Coach Cam, a longtime USO volunteer, continues to create spaces where service members can build community outside of the barracks and be reminded they are not alone. Throughout the night, he also shared resources (tagged in post) that encourage healthy outlets that support mental wellness, connection, self-expression, and to remind people that they are not alone.

In his words:

“What we experienced was more than entertainment.
It was a room full of people choosing connection over isolation and expression over suppression.

There was laughter. There were stories. There were hugs. There were vulnerable moments. There was music, comedy, conversation, and genuine human connection.”

Thank you to everyone who performed, attended, opened up, supported one another, and helped make the night what it was. 🎤

Uniform Repair Day for service members! Our volunteers will be on site with their sewing machines fixing basic uniform and service-related item repairs, including fixing rips, tears, hems, and more. 🇺🇸
