Thank you to Jeff Weaver from JAWS Plumbing LLC for an informative presentation at Quakertown Tip Club.

Jeff has been in the plumbing industry for over 2 decades and started JAWS Plumbing 14 years ago. He shared insight into the growing shortage of skilled plumbers - part of what’s often called the “silver tsunami,” as many experienced tradespeople retire. With an estimated 550,000-plumber shortage nationwide, Jeff emphasized that the trades are a great career path and that college isn’t the right fit for everyone.

Jeff also shared some helpful homeowner insights that often come up during the spring and summer months, including keeping an eye on increased outdoor water usage as hoses, spigots, and irrigation systems are put back into regular use after winter. He also noted that seasonal changes can be a good reminder to check for slow leaks or running toilets, which can sometimes go unnoticed over time.

Another year-round tip Jeff shared: if you hear phantom water running in your toilet, try adding food coloring to the tank. If color shows up in the bowl, you may have a faulty flapper.

In addition to plumbing services, Jeff’s company also handles drain cleaning, water treatment, and excavating, serving customers within about 30 minutes of the Quakertown area.

🌟 Tip Club Member Spotlight: Heeney Electric 🌟

Electrical safety is something many of us don’t think about—until there’s a problem. Heeney Electric, a family-owned business led by Joe and Ruth Nastasi, is helping homeowners better understand risks and stay safe.

🛠️ With over 20 years of experience, Joe brings hands-on expertise to every job, specializing in residential and small business electrical service, installation, and repair.

Their presentation focused on electrical fire hazards, many of which come from everyday situations we might overlook. 🔥

⚠️ Common risks include:
• Small space heaters that can overheat outlets
• Faulty or aging appliances
• Outdated electrical panels
• Uncovered outlets
• Using incorrect wattage light bulbs
• DIY electrical work without proper experience

One key takeaway: don’t take chances with electricity. If a switch or outlet feels warm, it’s not something to ignore.

They also shared that exterior wiring can become damaged over time. Frayed wires on the outside of your home can lead to power issues—and are typically the homeowner’s responsibility to repair.

🌊🌊 Heeney Electric also specializes in electrical work for in-ground and above-ground pools, as well as home additions—making sure everything is installed safely and up to code. 🏊

Fully licensed and insured, Heeney Electric is committed to getting the job done right—no matter how big or small.

When in doubt, call a professional ⚡

Referral leads convert 4–5x higher than cold leads. Trust is already built before the first conversation.

Cold marketing has to earn attention first. Referrals start with it.

That’s why referral networking works so well. It shortens the trust gap and brings in better clients.

This is what the Quakertown Tip Club is built on.

Join us for our Open House on Wednesday, May 20th at 8:00am at John’s Plain and Fancy and get a look at how Quakertown Tip Club works in action.

Registration is required:

✨ Quakertown Tip Club Member Spotlight: Kristin Taylor – Taylor Maid Cleaning ✨

Recently at Quakertown Tip Club, we had the pleasure of hearing from Kristin Taylor, owner of Taylor Maid Cleaning, who shared the inspiring story behind her business—and why it’s about so much more than just cleaning.

Kristin’s journey began in 2002, after becoming a stay-at-home mom and looking for a creative and productive outlet. What started as cleaning one day a week gradually grew into a thriving business as she moved from residential homes into commercial spaces and brand-new offices. Today, Taylor Maid Cleaning employs 10–12 part-time, all-women team members, all rigorously trained and empowered to do their best work.

Kristin emphasized that Taylor Maid Cleaning is about integrity, trust, and delivering consistency. Her team follows detailed checklists, uses the right products for each surface, and relies on highly systemized processes to ensure efficient, reliable results. Every home is serviced by two team members for accountability, quality, and peace of mind.

What really stood out was Kristin’s heart for people. Many of her residential clients are 55+, and for some, the cleaning team may be the highlight of their day. Taylor Maid Cleaning believes in showing up with a great attitude, compassion, and care.

📌 Services Offered:
• Maintenance Cleaning
• Deep Cleaning
• Residential
• Commercial

Through organization, training, and strong core values, Taylor Maid Cleaning has truly perfected the formula. Kristin personally visits each home or building to provide customized quotes and works to be environmentally responsible whenever possible.

Thank you, Kristin, for an insightful and inspiring presentation—and for reminding us that great businesses are built on people, purpose, and trust 💙

Winter isn’t over yet! ❄️

At Quakertown Tip Club, Maureen Kusters of R&R Insurance shared practical reminders to help everyone stay safe — and avoid unnecessary claims — this winter.

Her key advice: Preparation makes all the difference.

🔦Before a storm:
• Treat exterior steps and walkways
• Locate shovels and scrapers ahead of time
• Check smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
• Seal drafts and help prevent frozen pipes (open cabinets, let faucets drip)
• Gather flashlights, batteries, candles, food, water, medications, winter clothing, and cash
• Review your insurance coverage so you know what’s protected

🚗 Vehicle prep:
• Check fluid levels and tire pressure
• Fill your gas tank
• Park in a safe location

⚠️ If you must drive in a storm:
• Bring a phone charger
• Pack blankets, snacks, water, and emergency supplies
• Avoid travel if possible

Aside from necessary shoveling (and taking frequent breaks!), the safest place to be during a storm is indoors.

💥Maureen also reviewed what to do after a car accident:
• Move to a safe location if possible
• Exchange information
• Take photos
• Call the insurance carrier listed on your ID card — not your agent

Smart preparation protects your home, your vehicle, and your family. Thanks, Maureen, for the timely and helpful reminders!

If you need coverage for residential, business, auto, or special event insurance (excluding trip insurance), connect with Maureen at R&R Insurance. With extensive experience and a strong commitment to her clients, she works diligently to ensure you’re properly protected and confidently covered.
