Always nice to recognize teens in today’s world that are doing the right thing. Ethan recently completed the law enforcement camp that our club sponsored for $800. Chase is a Sumner HS grad who is headed into the HVAC world with training at Clover Park Technical College. Our $1000 scholarship will make a small dent in his school expenses and we can all hope for successful employment for both of these students. When we work hard as a club to earn money for our community projects it is good to see the end result.

Today through wind and some torrential rain, we had a work party to spread bark on the Kiwanis Club Of Daffodil Valley island by Pizza Hut. Thanks to the City of Puyallup public works department for delivering the bark. Also many thanks to Chris, John, Leslie, Paul, Pete and Vern! About ten hours of community service time was logged. Today we had a work party to clean up the Kiwanis island by Pizza Hut. Many thanks to Paul, John, Chris, Scott, Pete and Tony. When your son helps out the club the least a dad can do is buy him a b**r and sandwich at The Ram. About 14 hours of community service were logged and it is ready for a fresh batch of bark in the near future. Lots of trimming, raking, trash pick up, weeding, fertilizing to get things in shape. Great group of people to work with. No group photo this time.

Today a Kiwanis foursome got together, not for golf, but to clean up the Kiwanis Island. Thanks Paul, Leslie, Alex and Scott for three hours of your Saturday morning. Pruning, trimming, raking, bagging, fertilizing, etc. was the To Do list. The three maple trees sure crank out a lot of leaves. Shrub pruning helped make things ready for Meeker Days too. 25 bags will be collected by the city next week. Thanks to my hard working team on a sunny morning in June.
