TeenFlight Puyallup

TeenFlight Puyallup TeenFlight pairs high school students and local, experienced mentors to build a kit airplane.

Goals:

• Teaching the students by hands-on training the technical skills, teamwork and leadership that is necessary in team building a Light Sport Aircraft from start to finish

• Providing opportunities for the students to earn high school and college credits for participating in the program

• Providing students opportunities in job shadowing and internships

• Work with businesses to provide s

cholarship opportunities for students entering aviation and aerospace career studies.

• Provide an experience that opens a young person’s mind to new horizons whether in terms of personal achievement or career aspirations in aviation and aerospace sciences.

• Foster teamwork between local citizens, civic leaders, and businesses supporting youth in aviation and other aerospace industries.

Last Monday evening was our last build for this school year and we are proud of our students accomplishments for the year. We completed two RV-12iS aircraft and got them both through flight testing. Our TF7 plane got painted and is ready to sale. Our TF9 plane is already with its new owner, Jeff, is really pleased with his plane. Our TF8 airframe is completed and ready for avionics and engine. Our Sling TSI project is well underway and the engine/prop will be ordered for it once we sell TF7. We already have a complete Garmin IFR avionics package for it. We are hoping to get it completed next school year and ready to sale.

We are loosing two of our seniors who are ready and prepared to pursue their career paths. We know they will do great and looking forward to their continued accomplishments! We'll miss you Michael and Lucas!

Our annual BBQ/potluck is Sunday, June 29th at 2pm. All current students and alumni and their families are invited!

Our TF7 plane was inspected today and we received its special airworthiness certificate!!

Want to thank Gary Brown coming to do the inspection and TeenFlight student Kylie for being here to observe the process.

First flight is expected to happen on Saturday. Plane will be up for sale after testing phase is completed.

Our TeenFlight group had a wonderful time at the NW Aviation Conference and enjoyed all the people who stopped by our booth today. We will be back tomorrow for the final day so besure to stop by the booth to meet our students and see the some of our projects on display.
