Did you know that June 12 is the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948?

“The day recognizes the long-overlooked contributions of women who served throughout U.S. history, often without equal acknowledgment or access to benefits,” WDVA Director David Puente Jr.

In that spirit, the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs and the Women Veterans Advisory Committee proudly announce the 2026 Women Veterans Celebration Luncheon, “A Salute to Sisterhood,” an annual gathering dedicated to honoring the service, strength, and contributions of Washington’s Women Veterans.

Event Details:

Date and Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., 27 June
Location: William W. Phillip Hall, 1918 Commerce Street, Tacoma, WA

The Wall That Heals is coming to Lacey, WA!

We are proud to announce that The Wall That Heals will be in Lacey, WA on June 25–28, 2026. It will be open to the public 24 hours a day and free to all visitors.

The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point and 375 feet long. Established by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in 1996, this replica and its 53-foot Education Center have traveled to more than 800 cities, honoring the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. The Wall bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

The Education Center contains artifacts and digital displays that tell the story of the Vietnam War, the establishment of The Wall, and how Vietnam transformed the way our nation treats its Veterans and service members. It will also display photographs of those whose names are on the Wall and feature the “In Memory” program, honoring local Veterans who returned home from Vietnam and later passed away.

To submit the name and photograph of a loved one for the “In Memory” program, learn more, sign up for tours, volunteer, or make a donation, visit www.thewallthathealslaceywa.org or email Jorge Castillon at [email protected]

Together, let's honor the women whose service has strengthened our nation and celebrate the legacy of all women who have worn the uniform.

06/12/2026

Today, on Women Veterans Day, we recognize and celebrate the generations of women who have answered the call to serve our nation.

Women Veterans have strengthened our armed forces through their courage, leadership, and dedication—often overcoming barriers while paving the way for those who follow. Their service extends far beyond their time in uniform, continuing through their contributions to families, communities, and the workforce.

To all women Veterans: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your enduring impact. Today and every day, we honor you.
