We are looking for individuals interested in fostering inter-cultural exchange for high school foreign exchange students. This is a flexible, home-based, independent contractor position that requires self-motivated individuals to serve as local representatives in the community for Cultural Homestay International’s Academic Year Program.

As an Academic Coordinator (AC), you will find volunteer host families through community outreach efforts in your area, foster relationships with your local high schools, and mentor and support international students and their host families.

families and schools.

Student Placement & Support Responsibilities

* Network and promote the Cultural Homestay International Academic Year Program through community
outreach efforts and building strong relationships with local high schools.
* Identify, select, and interview safe and appropriate volunteer host families, and facilitate the placement
process.
* Maintain monthly contact with both the student and host family to ensure student safety and complete
on-line monthly student supervision reports.
* Relocate students with new, vetted volunteer host families within the same community and high school
as needed.
*Provide necessary support for all program participants throughout the student’s stay.

Additional Responsibilities for Academic Coordinators

* Complete additional home visits as requested.
* Maintain annual training, professional development, US State Department certification and
annual paperwork.

Job Requirements for Academic Coordinators

* As an Academic Coordinator with CHI, you must be able to work independently and effectively from home
within your local area, and love working with teenagers/youth.
* You must have exceptional networking, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Additional requirements

* Pass a criminal background check
* Must be 25 years of age and live within the United States.
* Ability to provide interim room and board for a student you are supervising in the event of an emergency
* Reliable transportation at all times
* Computer proficiency & home internet required; social media literacy preferred
* Experience in community outreach & volunteering, education, social work, and intercultural exchange
preferred
