Breaking news from the Lamar County Library System:

Two armadillos have moved in and immediately started reading everything they could get their paws on.

We checked the shelves, and technically, they are following all library rules… so we decided to keep them.

Meet Lamar and Artie, our new library mascots.

Lamar is the curious one, always digging around for new books and interesting things to learn. Artie is the seasoned reader who prefers a comfortable spot, a good pair of glasses, and a really great book.

Lamar was created by George, and Artie was illustrated by Rebecca. You’ll start seeing them popping up in programs, flyers, and around our libraries as they help us dig up great books and remind everyone how fun reading can be.

Be sure to say hello when you see them around the library.

Come by the Purvis Public Library on December 11 from 5-6:30 for pictures with Santa, cocoa & cookies! You'll get a digital copy of your picture from the Zellabration LLC photo booth! For a $5 donation to the Friends of The Purvis Public Library (that's us!) you'll also get a print out! ✨

Come out to the Purvis Street Festival today and support local! We are located in front of the First Baptist Church sign. Check out how we support our local public library, buy some raffle tickets and books and sign up to become a member! Support your community by helping support the Public Library.

We're going to have multiple raffles at the Purvis Street Festival this Saturday! Here's another we're excited about!
