How many of you know that my husband was raised in foster care? That is one of the many reasons Domanko exists, that is why we request newe/like new clothing and toys. You don't understand what these kiddos are walking through unless you have walked in their shoes. Thank you to everyone who supports our ministry. ❤️

CAN THEY COUNT ON YOU?

Imagine a child waking up on Easter morning with no basket. Many children in our local foster care system have never received one. Let’s change that! 💛
We are on a mission to provide Easter baskets to children in foster care and those adopted from care in our community, and we need YOUR help!

How to help:

1️⃣ Assemble a Basket: Grab a basket (or basket-bag) and fill it with candy, small toys, books, and spring surprises.

2️⃣ Age Groups Needed: We need baskets for toddlers (ages 2-5), school-age (6-10), and especially teens (11-17 - teens love gift cards to Starbucks/McDonalds, hygiene items, or cozy blankets). ( I'll let you know what age we are needing you to prepare for.)

3️⃣ Drop-off: Please drop off completed baskets at Domanko, 8033 FR 2062, Purdy, Mo. 65735 by Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Prefer to donate items? We are collecting items for our team to assemble:

✅ Candy
✅ Coloring books & crayons
✅ Bubbles & chalk
✅ Stuffed animals
✅️ Other items of your choice

Please comment "I'm in!" if you can help, and share this post! Let’s show these kids they are loved and remembered. 🐰🌷

You don’t get to roll your eyes at foster parents
if you’ve never held a child at 3 a.m.
while they screamed from a place you couldn’t fix.

You don’t get to say
“well they signed up for it”
if you’ve never sat in a courtroom
praying a judge would see past the surface.

You don’t get to whisper
“they must be doing it for the money”
when most of us make less than a dollar an hour
to do full-time trauma care
with no days off
and no guarantee it’ll matter in the end.

You don’t get to judge the Amazon list
or the meal train
or the desperate post asking for a crib by tomorrow morning
when the last three kids left with everything we owned
and all they brought was trauma and a trash bag.

Fostering isn’t cute
It’s not trendy
It’s not for Instagram

It’s showing up when everything hurts
It’s saying yes when your heart says run
It’s holding space for grief that doesn’t belong to you
but now lives in your home

Unless you’ve opened your door
given up your sleep
wiped tears you didn’t cause
and handed over your whole heart
knowing it might get shattered

Maybe don’t throw stones

Pray instead
Encourage instead
Bring a coffee
Offer a meal
Say “how can I help” instead of “I could never”

Foster parents aren’t heroes
We’re just people who said yes
And kept saying yes
Even when it broke us
Even when it emptied us
Even when no one clapped

And no
This isn’t a savior post
This isn’t about being thanked

This is the reality
And we’re still here
Still standing
Still saying yes

Because the kids are worth it

When my kids walk into a thrift store, I don’t want them to think,
“this is what you do if you can’t afford better.”

I want them to think,
this is where good things live.

Where things still have life left in them.
Where stories don’t end just because someone else was finished.
Where value isn’t measured by price tags or how new something looks.

Thrifting isn’t a last resort in our home.
It’s not embarrassing.
It’s not gross.
And it’s definitely not something to be looked down on.

It’s our first choice.

Because we already have more than enough in this world.
Because caring for what exists matters.
Because choosing intentionally teaches patience, gratitude, and creativity.
Because “new” doesn’t automatically mean better, and “used” doesn’t mean worn out.

So when we thrift, we’re not settling.
We’re choosing thoughtfully.
We’re choosing stories over trends, character over perfection, and values over impulse.

And that lesson?
That one lasts far longer than anything brand new ever could 🤍
