Linda had never been on a boat. Never been in open water. This day, she got both and we caught the whole thing on camera.

We started slow, letting her swim short distances to shore just to build her confidence. The moment she stopped "panic paddling" and just relaxed into it, we knew she had it...and by the end she was swimming out to us completely on her own.

She came home rescued, loved, and absolutely exhausted. Honestly, this is why we do it.

Babe is 2-3 year old spayed Labrador Retriever mix, but mostly Lab, who is looking for a forever home. She is currently being fostered by Dr. Susan Conway on her farm in Purcellville. Babe was picked up by animal control in rural Kentucky trailer park rumaging for food. She was taken to a very over crowded animal shelter where Dr Conway became aware of her grossly underweight condition and agreed to foster her. She is a happy dog who has almost perfect recall, know several commands like sit and stay, she is great with other dogs and is maybe the sweetest dog Dr. Conway has ever met. Meet Matt 🐾🤍

Matt is the definition of a good boy.

He had a family, a home, and a normal puppy life… until his humans had to move and couldn’t take him with them. It wasn’t because he was “too much.” He didn’t destroy furniture or cause trouble. Through no fault of his own, Matt simply lost the only home he knew.

Since then, he’s spent 8 months waiting in a shelter for someone to choose him.

The sweetest, easiest dogs are often the ones people walk right past. They don’t bark the loudest or demand attention—they just quietly wait, hoping their person will come. Sadly, too many never get that chance.

Matt deserves better.

He’s loving, gentle, and ready to be someone’s best friend. Whether you can offer him a forever home or even foster him until his family finds him, you’d be changing his entire world.

Most rescues don’t do this.
Most operate out of kennels, feed kibble on a schedule, and that’s not a criticism — that’s the reality of scale. When we say our dogs live as family, this is what we mean. Not a feeding schedule but a meal plan. Not kibble in a kennel. Fresh food on the counter next to our own.
