The Saving Grace Project

The Saving Grace Project Dedicated to the restoration of the Grace United Methodist Church, Lincoln, VA, Loudoun County.

Now called the Grace Heritage Site, the former Grace Methodist Episcopal Church is owned by the Friends of Grace Multicultural Center, a charity non-profit started by former church trustees. Working in collaboration with the Lincoln Preservation Foundation, our goal is to restore the Grace structure to its former glory, to stand as a symbol of the African American history of our area. The lower le

vel will feature a memorial to local Black military veterans, many of whom are buried in the Grace cemetery without recognition for their service and sacrifice. Grace will host educational events and exhibits that showcase Loudoun’s untold Black story. The cemetery is still in use, and the building will be available to the community for funerals and other events.

Please join us in wishing a Happy 90th Birthday to our beloved Reginald Simms! Reggie has devoted much of his life documenting and preserving the people, places, and experiences related to his life and community in western Loudoun County. His commitment to the preservation of the former Grace Methodist Episcopal Church (the Grace Heritage Site) where his parents once worshipped, has inspired all of us who work beside him. We owe so much to this great man. Happy Birthday and Thank You, Reggie! 🎂🎉

We are thankful this Thanksgiving season for the beautiful new roof that was completed last year. We now move on to fundraising for the restoration and rebuilding of Grace’s windows which have been missing for decades. Read about the Grace Heritage Project at savinggraceproject.org.

On this Veteran’s Day, the flags are up at the Grace and Mt Olive cemeteries in Lincoln to honor the memory of our Black veterans, many of whom served in the early wars without the recognition or honor they deserved. Thank you to the Friends of Grace volunteers who led this effort and their partners at the Lincoln Preservation Foundation.
