Five (5) State Universities and Colleges in Cagayan Valley competed in the first-ever Young Farmers Challenge Intercollegiate Competition held at DA-CVRC, City of Ilagan, Isabela on October 4, 2023.
The Department of Agriculture expanded the coverage of the YFC this year through an Intercollegiate Category as a subcomponent of the YFC Start-up which aims to transform the ideas of students into profitable agribusiness venture.
The promising young farmers who pitched their Business Model Canvas were:

3. Ezra Soriano, Marie Jhoy Cariaga (Isabela State University) โ CAbutehan for ISUans
4. Ariel Jan Alcesto, Seth Howell Dela Cruz, Kemberly Dollaga (Quirino State University)โ Soyammy (Naturally Flavoured Soya Products)
5. Mercy Cantero, Leslie Gabas, Jay-r Delos Santos, Ivan Joseph Cardona (Batanes State College) โ Ivatan Fishda Snacks
The delegates were evaluated in terms of their entrepreneurial attributes, innovativeness, potential for generating revenue stream, value addition, social responsibility, and university engagement.
Only one group will be declared as the winner and will receive financial grant amounting to Php 150,000 as start-up capital in their proposed agri-fishery venture.
The panel of judges who provided critical insights to the presenters was composed of:

The success of the event is attributed to the support ang guidance of Dr. Rose Mary G. Aquino, DA RFO 2 OIC, Regional Executive Director, Dr. Roberto C. Busania, OIC-Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension, and Ms. Kay S. Olivas, OIC-Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations.
