Calkins Family Association Calkins Family Association, Inc. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, family history organization. Richard Blinman, embarked and came to America, about 1640.

Our mission: to use the stories of the past to inspire modern people to strive to produce good for the future. John Morton-Finney lived a remarkable life dedicated to education and service. Born on June 25, 1889, in Uniontown, Kentucky, he served in the U.S. Army as a Buffalo Soldier with the 24th Infantry Regiment from 1911 to 1914. He also served with the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I.

Over his lifetime, Morton-Finney earned 11 college degrees, including five in law. He taught foreign languages, including Greek, Latin, German, Spanish, and French, in Indianapolis Public Schools for 47 years. He was a member of the original faculty at Crispus Attucks High School and later served as head of its foreign language department.

He was admitted to the Indiana Supreme Court bar in 1935, the U.S. District Court in 1941, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1972. Morton-Finney practiced law well into his later years, continuing his commitment to lifelong learning.

He passed away on January 28, 1998, at the age of 108. His life stands as an inspiring example of dedication to knowledge, teaching, and professional achievement across more than a century.
