Our mission is to provide a safe and secure home where teen foster boys are encouraged to love themselves, have faith, and develop relationships to best prepare them for the future. We are a nonprofit group foster home with two locations in Charlotte County for boys from all over Florida who have a demonstrated history of being difficult for case workers to place with traditional foster families. The boys we serve are between 12 and 17 years old and have been difficult to place due to behaviors, legal charges, a history of running away from their foster placements, or multiple previous failed placements, including school placements. These boys are also academically challenged and have extensive therapeutic needs. Additionally, these youth often struggle with social and life skills. What's cooking at Crossroads? A whole lot more than dinner!

At 17 years old, Najee is getting ready for a pretty big milestone. Next summer, he'll officially age out of foster care and begin the next chapter of his life. And while we can't prepare him for every challenge adulthood might bring, we CAN help make sure he has the skills and confidence to tackle them!

That's why moments like this one matter. ❤️

Learning to cook a meal, do laundry, manage money, and take care of a home might seem like ordinary everyday tasks. But for our boys, these are essential building blocks toward independence, self-sufficiency, and a successful future.

At Crossroads Hope Academy, we're not just providing a safe place for our boys to grow up. We're helping prepare them for the day they're ready to spread their wings.

And judging by that steak, we'd say Najee is off to a pretty delicious start! 🥩👏

Our local Beefs is much loved in our community because they are BIG believers in giving back to schools, nonprofits, and other youth organizations, and this month they are giving back to Crossroads!

Crossroads Spirit Day is Thursday, October 29! Tell your server you're there to support Crossroads and 20% of your check will be donated back to Crossroads Hope Academy! So feel free to eat and drink AS MUCH as your belly can hold 😁

This handsome fella had a BIG presentation for his AICE US History class on Friday about Ulysses S Grant and was told by classmates that they had voted him not only Best Dressed (obviously 💁) but also Most Informative Presentation 🧑‍🏫 🎉

But wait, there’s more!

Earlier in the week, Ms. Liz received a message from his Precalculus teacher that made everyone here at Crossroads Hope Academy (Cody included) smile BIG:

💙 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙥. 💙

For the past 10 years, Crossroads Hope Academy has been more than a place to live for teenage boys in foster care. It has been a place to belong, to experience stability, to build meaningful relationships, and to begin imagining what their future can look like.

This milestone belongs not only to Crossroads, but to the incredible community that has walked alongside our boys: our staff, volunteers, donors, businesses, churches, and friends who continue to show up and believe in them.

This April, we invite you to gather with us on April 10th at the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda for Rooted in Hope, presented by Advon. This special evening will honor the lives impacted, the people who made it possible, and the many stories still being written.

Come celebrate how far we've come, and help us continue creating opportunities for the young men who will call Crossroads home in the years ahead.

❤️ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Brandon St. Pierre & Family ❤️

At Crossroads Hope Academy, we believe one of the greatest gifts we can give a young person is simply showing up—and continuing to show up. That’s what Brandon St. Pierre and his family do.

Brandon first came to Crossroads hoping to lead a Bible study. When he realized the boys weren’t quite ready to sit still, he pivoted. He began bringing his wife and children to serve meals, always arriving an hour early.

That extra hour became meaningful time for basketball, conversations, laughter, prayer, and most importantly, relationships.

Today, Brandon continues to walk alongside our young men, reminding them through his words and actions: you matter, you are loved, and someone will show up for you.

One young man Brandon has built a special relationship with now regularly joins him for Sunday worship. And something beautiful has happened; he has asked to be baptized. 🙏

As he approaches his 18th birthday and prepares for his next chapter, he continues to be part of Brandon’s church and family. A relationship that began with a meal, a basketball, a conversation, and a willingness to show up will continue far beyond Crossroads.

Brandon points to Matthew 7:13-14: "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." He believes our young men need to experience the kind of love Scripture describes—patient, kind, enduring, and unconditional.

We are so grateful for the St. Pierre family and the way they continue to show up, build relationships, serve, pray, and love.

Because at Crossroads, we know that hope often begins with one person deciding not to give up on a child. ❤️

🎂 We’ve got a LOT of birthdays coming up! 🎉

Over the next three months, 15 of our boys will celebrate a birthday — that’s nearly 40% of the young men at Crossroads! 🥳 And around here, birthdays are a pretty big deal.

For each birthday boy, we make sure his day includes presents chosen just for him, a special birthday dinner, and — of course — dessert! 🎁🍔🍰 Altogether, we spend approximately $325 to make each birthday special.

For some of our boys, birthdays haven’t always been days they could count on being celebrated. At Crossroads, we want every young man to know that his life is worth celebrating and he is surrounded by people who care about him. ❤️

With 15 birthdays coming up, we could use a little help from our village! You can sponsor a birthday in full for $325 or give any amount toward one. Every $25, $50 or $100 gets us closer to making sure each of these 15 young men gets his own special day.

👨‍🍳 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐤𝐧𝐚, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐟 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬! ❤️💙

Every great chef has a story. Greg’s started at a very young age when he found himself cooking because, as he says, his mom wasn’t exactly a great cook! 😂 Somewhere along the way, he fell in love with it.

Growing up, Greg’s culinary mentors were chefs he watched on the Food Network: Emeril Lagasse, Bobby Flay, and Rachael Ray. He taught himself by watching, experimenting, and checking out cookbooks from the library.

But his path to becoming a chef wasn’t easy.

After high school, Greg got into trouble, and a serious accident left him hospitalized for a long time. When he walked out of that hospital, he made a life-changing decision: no more drugs, no more destructive choices, and no more looking back.

He wanted to attend culinary school but couldn’t afford it. Then he discovered Job Corps. He learned that the top student could earn a scholarship to culinary school in San Francisco.

Greg became that student. 🎓

That opportunity led to nearly three years at the California Culinary Academy, working on cruise lines in Hawaii, internships with Bobby Flay and Rachael Ray, and a career traveling the country cooking.

Now Greg is bringing that experience to Crossroads, and he’s bringing something even more important: his story.

Greg wanted a career that gave him more time with his children. At Crossroads, he found something more: a chance to mentor young men and use culinary arts to inspire hope.

And they’re already enjoying Greg’s cooking! 🔥🍕 Favorites so far include his overnight-smoked barbecue ribs, braised all-day oxtails, and homemade pizza.

Greg hopes some of our boys will discover a passion of their own through cooking—a skill, a career, and a future they can believe in.

Sometimes hope begins with someone saying, “You can do this. Let me show you how.”

Thank you to the Knights of Columbus Ponce De Leon #8074 and the incredible way they continue to show up for the young men at Crossroads Hope Academy!

The Knights of Columbus have supported Crossroads in many meaningful ways, including generously donating funds raised through their events to help meet the needs of our youth. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and commitment.

But recently, they’ve taken their support to the next level: mentorship.

They came to Crossroads with a delicious dinner of rotisserie chicken, scalloped potatoes, and green beans, but what they brought was so much more than a meal. They brought their time, their presence, and a desire to build genuine relationships with our kids.

The evening included sharing a meal, teaching the kids to play chess, and learning what each chess piece is for. There was laughter, conversation, encouragement, and connection.

For youth in foster care, relationships matter. Having caring adults who show up, listen, teach, encourage, and invest their time can make a lasting difference.

We are so thankful to the Knights of Columbus for not only supporting Crossroads financially, but for taking that support one step further and investing personally in the lives of our young people through mentorship.

Thank you for showing our kids that they are worth showing up for. ❤️

🍔🏈🍦 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 & 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗲𝘀, 𝗼𝗵 𝗺𝘆! 🍦🏈🍔

What a fantastic day of fun, fellowship, and community at Crossroads Hope Academy this past Saturday! We are so grateful for our partnership with Advance the Faith and the Port Charlotte Global Methodist Church, led by Charity Lewis, who helped make this day one our boys won’t soon forget.

Advance the Faith brought the ice cream sundae bar and flag football, while Charity brought her creativity, energy, and an unforgettable scavenger hunt!

The day had it all:

🍔 Burgers & hot dogs fresh off the grill
🏈 Flag football
🍦 An epic ice cream sundae bar
🕵️‍♂️ A one-of-a-kind scavenger hunt!

Charity’s scavenger hunt was anything but ordinary! The boys had to work together to solve clues by putting puzzles together, building a human pyramid, and even calling people Charity had lined up ahead of time through her monthly “planner.” 📅😂

The riddles involved everything from IT challenges and puzzles to human pyramids. The result: teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, laughter—and some very happy boys!

The day ended with prizes, smiles, full stomachs, and some completely worn-out boys! 🏆😴

We are incredibly thankful for community partners who invest their time, talent, and treasure in our foster boys. These experiences matter. Even more, the relationships matter.

Showing up, sharing a meal, playing a game, teaching a skill, or simply spending time together helps our boys experience the love, connection, and everyday joys of a family household—and reminds them that they matter.

Community groups, churches, businesses, and individuals: We need you! Bring your time, talent, or treasure and help us create experiences, build relationships, and surround these boys with people who believe in them.

Come be part of their story. Because every boy deserves to know he matters. 💙
