Punta Gorda Boat Club: Fun boat and kayak owners supporting the Community, enjoying social events, primarily focused on boating - we hold day and overnight boat trips and river and mangrove kayak launches, we have sailing groups, plan land-based bi-monthly harborside sunset Socials, tail-gaters, fishing trips, sand bar beach days, our annual Commodore's Ball, Club fund-raisers, member galas and Holiday events; we attend group sporting spectacles, hold our own blindfold boat race... all delightful fun among water-loving friends. We serve our Community with food collections, by sponsoring the STAR cruise for certain special people, and 'our' Shreve Street cleanups; we clean out the mangroves, spruce Ponce Park, ring Christmas bells, all while promoting education and harbor/boater safety events. We also offer the bulding for rent to community clubs and those groups and associations which improve our Community residents' well-being . We are, all, friendly, fun, and social. Come join us, new friends!

The Poker Run was a huge success! 5 stops for a random card, lots of folks on lots of boats, eats n drinks at the Riviera followed, prizes, laughter, games were on!! This is a great group - something for everyone...

Every two weeks there's a group of overnighters headed somewhere, a group of daytrippers going to a bar (sand, or eatery, or both!), paddlers on a river, a tailgater, movie night, Social Hour(s), a ride and lunch trip for the needy, a group collecting and making donation bags, a dinner dance... we do it all, with new friends, and laughter.

I'm soo looking forward to the annual English Proper Tea Party on Saturday, 11 a.m. this weekend! Sweets, scones, salads, savories, guests in their fineries, hats and fascinators, tea from England, served by proper servers, from proper Tea pots, into lovely China tea cups, with creme, and lump sugars, chocolate, dipped strawberries, smoked salmon, eggie fingers, cheese rolls... and on and on....! And, a silent auction of jewels and bedazzlers! This is a huge club event that sells out every year. It sold out already, 150 tickets, 3 days after tickets went on sale 2 weeks ago! Wow! But the Event leader has a few spots available at her table because 1/2 of one group just canceled...it's a members-and-their-
guests-only, club fundraiser so if you want to come, and you know a PG Boat Club member, call them now. Ask them if they're going to the Tea! Wrangle and invite! I'm posting some pictures from a past English Tea...

We're proud to have hunted for refuse and junk in the mangroves at Ponce Park last weekend! All in all, 46 members donned gloves, T-shirts, colored vests, grabbed bags (all provided) for a morning participating in the Great American Cleanup. A couple members took to the waterways in kayaks to drag detritus probably trapped there since Helene and Milton visited. Other members scoured the road shoulders for litter. 30 bags of garbage later, topped off with fresh coffee/water and fruit/donuts for ous tummies, we were happy and not-yet sunburned! The Cleanup is a 2-year project to pick up 25 billion pieces of litter, in more than 25,000 communities. We pull together, America!
