Aloha Maui Ohana !

I invite you to consider becoming a Respite Caregiver—a significant way to support foster parents by giving them time to rest and rejuvenate.

Respite can be as little as a few hours, a weekend, or up to 10 days, depending on the family’s need. After successfully completing the application requirements, you will be licensed by Child Welfare Services as a short-term caregiver.

Questions or want to talk story? Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

This first-time camper wrote this short, simple letter that just pricks your heart.

BUT GOD…

At lunch, he sat across from me with a big smile and said, “Hey Uncle, this camp is fun!”
I smiled back and asked, “What has been the best part of camp for you?”

I expected him to say swimming at the waterfall, sports, or one of the exciting activities.

Instead, without hesitation, he replied, “Chapel Time.” That answer caught me completely by surprise.

Earlier in the week, he had been talking with his camp mentor, expressing doubts about God’s existence and questioning whether the Bible was true.

Yet something was happening in his heart.

Moments like these remind us that while we plan activities and create memories, God is quietly doing the deeper work that no one can see.

Sometimes the greatest miracle at camp isn’t what happens on the outside—it’s what God begins to do on the inside.

Last Day of Camp.

Our sixth year of Royal Family KIDS Camp Maui is now in the books, and the kiddos are safely back home.

As always, the volunteers were impacted just as deeply as the children.

One returning camp mentor witnessed firsthand how one caring adult can change a child’s life. He was paired with a foster child for the second year. Last year the camper did not didn’t want to go home after experiencing genuine love, compassion, and a sense of felt safety. Two months after camp, the child was relocated in a new foster home and has remained there ever since. This week, the mentor saw an incredible transformation—a powerful reminder of what can happen when a vulnerable child experiences healthy relationships, unconditional acceptance, and hope.

We wrapped up the week with an Appreciation Lunch for our amazing volunteers. Listening to their testimonies was a beautiful reminder of the power of simply saying “Yes.” Yes to setting aside five days to serve vulnerable children. Yes to being present. Yes to making a lasting difference.

What was also motivating is that more than half a dozen volunteers—from the East Coast to the West Coast—are already planning to return for their third, fourth, and even fifth year to serve Maui’s foster keiki. Their faithfulness is a testimony in itself.

🎶 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.

Day 4 of Royal Family KIDS Camp

Today was one of the campers’ favorite days—“It’s Everyone’s Birthday!” 🎉

Every child was celebrated with birthday cake, ice cream, gifts, and the joy of being honored.

The campers wrote a short essay titled, “Why I Like RFK Camp.” One response deeply touched us: “It’s my first birthday cake.”

They also wrote a “Dear God” letter. One camper, who has been questioning God’s existence and the truth of the Bible, wrote: “Why do You make my life difficult?”
As the day went on, he expressed an unsolicited, “This is a fun camp.”

Then, I asked what his favorite part of camp had been. I expected him to say sports, swimming, or gifts. Instead, I was flabbergasted by his response: “Chapel time.”

Moments like these remind us that God is working in hearts even when we cannot see it. We simply plant seeds, love well, and trust Him with the harvest.

Philippians 1:6
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it…”
