🙌Volunteers were hard at work this weekend on the Rock Canyon Trail at Lake Pueblo State Park! 🛠️
With trail crew leaders from Southern Colorado Trail Builders, the team repaired crumbling rock features by rebuilding them with stronger, more sustainable foundations—helping preserve this iconic canyon trail for future users.
This project was made possible thanks to a trail report submitted by an observant trail user—your feedback matters!

🙌Big shoutout to an incredible group of student volunteers from Centennial High School’s Design and Innovation Academy!
This weekend, 7 dedicated students joined forces with Southern Colorado Trail Builders to put in meaningful work on the South Shore Trail at Lake Pueblo State Park. Alongside their science teacher, Mrs. Cheryl Farrer.
Their efforts focused on revegetation—building check dams to slow water flow, prevent erosion, and create the right conditions for native plants to return. This kind of hands-on conservation work plays a vital role in making the Lake Pueblo trail system more sustainable for years to come.
These students are also members of the Youth Climate Initiative Club, where they actively learn about local climate challenges and take real steps toward solutions. This project is a perfect example of turning knowledge into action!
Thank you for your hard work, leadership, and commitment to protecting our local natural spaces. The future is in good hands.
