‼️CHAPTER ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES‼️:

There are a couple great events coming up in the next couple of days that you don't want to miss! If you're a member or are interested in becoming one, please check out one or all of these events! If you're not a member but are interested in volunteering, we'd love to have you join in!🫶🏽

VOLUNTEER: Tomorrow April 10th, join us and Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River at 8:00 am to plant 400 willow cuttings🌱. We'll meet at the upper Osprey parking area: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TSJZp1Rk4M6TbWJM9 This could easily be done in a couple of hours if we have enough folks join in- and it is predicted to be a cooler day so fish the river after!🎣 It's rumored there may be donuts... 🍩Registration is not necessary but if you sign up, it will help us project how many volunteers we will have and need! You can sign up below: https://tu.myeventscenter.com/event/Arkansas-Tailwater-Willow-Planting-Project-April-123849

On Saturday April 11th, our friends Pueblo Tailwater Renegades are hosting a Casting Clinic at 9:00 am at Lake Minnequa Park.

And in May☀️:

VOLUNTEER: On Friday May 8th, we will be taking elementary school students with Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County 🧒🏻👧🏼on a fishing outing at 1:00 pm at Anticline pond. This is an opportunity for those who are looking to give back to the community, to be a part of a potentially new and fun experience for our young students to fish for the first time. Some of these kids have never caught a fish before- help us change that and really give these kids a day they can remember fondly for years to come. Southern Colorado Greenback Trout Unlimited is hosting our annual fundraising tournament this Saturday, Feb. 7th on the top 3.5 miles of the Pueblo Tailwater. There will be 20 teams of two anglers fishing this stretch of river from 9am to 5pm. Trout Unlimited would greatly appreciate the public's support by choosing to fish a different river or different stretch of the Arkansas this one day of the year(See map) Proceeds from the event are used for local habitat improvement projects (like annual willow planting on the tailwater) as well as connecting our local youth to the outdoors.

Our Youth projects include:
- Fishing outings and instruction on local waters
- Hosting the first ever Youth Fly Fishing Tournament in Colorado
- Sponsoring a youth at CTU's Annual Summer Camp
- Funding Trout in the Classroom projects at local schools
- Partnering with local organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County, Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center, Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River, and Pueblo Tailwater Renegades amongst others
- Volunteering at NWDC's summer youth fishing camp

Great news, PTR will sponsor a team for the TU Frost Bite Tournament February 7th. We will hold a fish off tournament January 10th to see who will fish for the club. You have to be a member of good standing to participate. If you are not a member, it’s $35.00 to join for a year.

We will meet at the Valco parking lot and you will need to fish a total of 4 hours.

The morning beats will be drawn at 9:00 Fishing will start a 9:30, you will fish one hour then switch beats, odd to even, even to odd (beat 1 moves to beat 2 and beat 2 moves to beat 1) and then fish another hour.

Meet back at the parking lot after 11:30am, we will draw the afternoon beats at 12:00, Fishing will start after the beat drawing, fish 2 hours and switch beats after the first hour. Meet back at the parking lot after 2:30pm for the final totals.

Total number of fish will determine your placement. Fish must be over 8 inches to count. Measure the first fish you catch, that will be used in the event of a tie.

The angler with the highest fish count will move on to represent PTR in the TU Frostbite Tournament February 7th. His partner in the Frostbite Tournament will be determined by a raffle drawing. Raffle tickets will be $10.00 each and you can buy as many as you want. This will give everyone in the club a chance to win a slot in the Tournament.
So if you are not a member, show up at the tournament and we will be glad to sign you up for the club ($35 for the year).
