With profound sadness, the Pueblo Chile Growers Association extends our deepest condolences to the Musso family, friends, and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

Carl Musso was more than a farmer, he was part of the backbone of our agricultural community. His hard work, dedication to the land, and the relationships he built over the years left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Today, we mourn alongside you. The fields he cared for and the lives he touched stand as a testament to a life of purpose, strength, and generosity.

May you find comfort in the memories you shared, and may his legacy continue to live on through the family, farm, and community he loved so deeply.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Pueblo Chile Growers Association

We ♥️ our Pueblo Ag community!

Last week was National Ag Day and we were able to share some insightful stats of our proud ag community with the County Commissioners and accept the 2026 Ag Day Proclamation. Our community wouldn't be what it is today if we didn't have such strong producers keeping our food systems steady! Huge thank you to everyone producer in Pueblo County who never takes a break from feeding our community and beyond. Pueblo County Stockmen's Assoc. Nothin’ but the facts.. live longer with some Pueblo Chile!! 😋🌶️

At 5,000 to 20,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHUs), Pueblo Chiles can pack quite a punch. Jalapeños are 5,000 SHUs on average, so some Pueblo Chiles can be up to four times as hot as a jalapeño! Typically, the hotter and drier the weather is during the growing season, the spicier the chiles will be at harvest.

According to a study published by The BMJ (British Medical Journal), those who consumed spicy foods almost daily - as opposed to those who consumed them less than once a week - had a 14% lower risk of death.

A tablespoon of chiles satisfies 108% of your daily Vitamin C requirement. Capsaicin, the compound in peppers that makes them spicy, is an antioxidant that can reduce inflammation in the body, aid in metabolic disorders, and potentially even stop cancer cells from forming (MDPI, National Library of Medicine).

Hatch chiles only range from 1,000 to 8,000 SHUs… make the healthier choice this year and spice up your life with some Pueblo Chiles! 🌶️

*Disclaimer: As we all know, spicy foods can cause gastrointestinal discomfort - especially if you don’t eat them often. Always do what feels best to your body, and follow diet recommendations from a medical professional.
