Colorado Springs residents who rely on DirecTV to watch NBC affiliate KOAA may be out of luck for the foreseeable future. The station, owned by the E.W. I'm really glad that someone who has the same heart for our community in southern Colorado is joining Peaks2Plains Weather! Meteorologist Merry Matthews will be on starting next week as we both grow and innovate to serve you and your family like never before.

How do you get Peaks2Plains Weather? We are everywhere you are and we've got options.

The best place for us to take care of you is in the Peaks2Plains Weather App. That way when weather is high impact or life-threatening we can give you a digital shoulder tap and let you know what's coming your way. In the App you'll find our forecast for right where you are if your notifications are turned on (that helps during high impact weather, too)....you can get the streaming 24/7 channel, forecast updates, etc.

We've also got the 24/7 channel on the home page of our website at Peaks2PlainsWeather.com, along with a bunch of interactive weather information there, too.

The 24/7 channel also lives in Roku and on our YouTube page.

I do a live show every Monday-Friday morning at 6:30 and we're live on there when the weather is high-impact (storms, fire, flood, snow, etc).

When we're live on that channel we also push the live stream to social media. We post forecast information on social media, too.

I hope that helps. Our concept is that wherever you are, that's where we are.

Matt Meister believes weather is the great unifier — a topic everyone cares about regardless of social, political or religious differences.

“Weather affects everyone. We all live in it. It affects every person and every industry. It’s the one thing in a newscast that affects everyone watching it.”

The Society of Professional Journalists strongly condemns today’s arrest of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort in connection with their reporting on a Jan. 18 demonstration at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

SPJ calls on the U.S. Department of Justice to drop all charges against Lemon and Fort – and any journalists detained while lawfully reporting. The Society urges local authorities to fully explain the circumstances surrounding these arrests. And the Society reminds law enforcement agencies of the importance of clear policies and training that protect journalists’ right to observe, document and report on matters of public concern without fear of retaliation.

Journalists are not the story – they are the eyes and ears of the public. A democracy cannot function when journalists face handcuffs for bearing witness.

“By arresting these journalists, the administration is signaling that journalists are unworthy of equal protection under the law,” said SPJ National President Chris R. Vaccaro. “By egregiously flouting the constitution, the Trump administration is threatening speech rights more broadly. If they can arrest reporters for doing their jobs, government officials can arrest anyone speaking in public in ways that the government dislikes, regardless of a person’s motives or reasons for speaking.”
