Don’t wait until you’re filling out your ballot to figure out what’s on it.

Our new resource has guidance on how to find a sample ballot, research what’s on it, understand your voting rights, and get help if you need it. You’ll also learn how artificial intelligence (AI) can help explain confusing ballot language, why AI can sometimes be wrong or biased, and why you should always double-check information using trusted sources.

We need your help! The federal government is asking for public comments about proposed changes to the Head Start program. Head Start is a government program that helps young children learn, grow, and get ready for school.

For many children with disabilities, it is also a path to comprehensive screenings, supports, and services that can change the course of their lives. If these changes go through, it would become easier to suspend or expel children whose disabilities affect their behavior. It would also be harder for families to get the support and services their kids need.

Share your thoughts and experiences on why Head Start matters, and help protect Head Start for children with disabilities and their families: https://bit.ly/4hlT9O0

Colorado is at its best when everyone can participate in the traditions that bring us together. This year’s Colorado State Fair is expanding accessibility for guests with disabilities through free on-demand ASL and visual interpretation, mobility upgrades, the Exceptional Rodeo, and a Sensory Friendly Day with smaller crowds, softer sounds, and dimmed lighting. I’m grateful to everyone helping Coloradans of all abilities feel welcomed, included, and free to enjoy the Fair at their own pace.

Wings for All® is an airport rehearsal program specifically designed for individuals on the autism spectrum or with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The program gives families the chance to experience all the steps involved in the air travel process in a safe, but realistic environment. The WINGS for All itinerary…
Families (individual with IDD + up to 3 additional family members or supports) arrive at the airport around 10am and are greeted and checked-in for the days’ events by volunteers from the Colorado Arc Network (CAN), United Airlines, DEN airport and TSA staff, then will proceed to check-in at the ticket counter to receive their boarding pass, go through TSA security, and board a plane (that does not take off). A reception will be held for all participants with light snacks and refreshments after deboarding the plane.
