Every June 14, we take a moment to honor the Stars and Stripes on Flag Day. It’s a reminder of the resilience, hope, and perseverance that shape our country — values that also guide our work across north east Oklahoma.
Here are a few Flag Day facts we love sharing:
• The current 50‑star design was created by a 17‑year‑old student whose school project ended up becoming our nation’s flag.
• There have been 27 official versions of the flag, most updated as new states joined the Union.
• The colors hold powerful meaning: red for valor, white for purity, and blue for justice and perseverance.
• Six American flags have been placed on the moon during the Apollo missions.
• Today’s design is the longest‑running version in U.S. history.
